The staging of the opening and closing ceremonies of Tokyo 2020 was boring and not well received in Japan.

However, there was an interesting production for synth geeks.

The background music was used for the most important part of the closing ceremony, when the torch was extinguished.

The background music was Debussy's "Clair de Lune" but the arrangement was by Isao Tomita.

It is a multi-recorded performance using early MOOG modular synthesizers, with many characteristic electronic sounds typical of synthesizers.

I think this BGM was selected because Isao Tomita is an authoritative composer in Japan, and the next Olympics will be held in France (Debussy's native country).
