Doing Poses (Patreon)

So many budding artists get distracted by a pose they do shit faces lol, so really work on your faces. Look how we can only see this Ninjas eyes!!! Poses can be tricky. Don't feel bad for studying them from photos. When we break this pose down in our minds it's not too hard. Oval head, tilted. Curved spine, shoulders are down allowing arms to come up cupping the bust. Notice the entire thing is curves!!! You LIGHTLY pencil out the pose, making sure everything's gone where it should. Eventually u don't need photo refs. But then people always ask for a particular pose. Alot of people talk about anatomy, they try to standardise everyone. But when your out and about look at people. Some have huge arms and tiny legs, some have big eyes that are very wide apart!!! Others have huge noses. People say boobies don't look like that... And your looking at some enhanced boobies that look just like that. Ha I had to do a SketchCover from a pose picked by the customer with huge enhanced boobies. Drew them as I saw them. This woman argues me breasts aren't like that online, she wouldn't have it. People see what they want to see and as artists we draw the world as we see it
