Greetings! It’s taken longer than I thought, but 10.1 is now complete! This release centers on the arena, but there’s a number of combat and UI changes, too. The arena experience isn’t just fights, though - there’s a story in there, with some hopefully interesting and entertaining characters. It took me almost exactly 1.5 hours to clear - that’s with one-shotting all the bosses and going through (almost) all the conversations - but YMMV.

As with 10.0, I’m providing a link to a folder which will also receive any subsequent bugfixes to 10.1:

Changelog

  • Added 4 unique arena fights
  • Added several skits, scenes, characters and conversations (mostly centered around the arena fights; some as a spectator at arena)
  • Added some arena rewards, including a way to purchase (a limited number of) consumables
  • Added enchantments and gems, two new ways to power up items, along with small gem and enchant quests
  • Revamped item screen to accommodate gems and enchants
  • A new (hopefully more pleasant) UI
  • New, much better looking icons, with distinct icons for many objects that didn’t have them before
  • More consistent design language for icons (state icons show at a glance whether it’s good or bad, abilities have one common look, easier to tell a really good item from an okay one)
  • Combat info screen, so you can find info about states and such (including whether they’re curable, etc.)
  • Removed extraneous resource bars (Ana no longer has MP, Alex no longer has TP, etc)

Feedback?

This release introduced a few changes and new things, and I’m interested to know your thoughts about them. Feel free to share any thoughts, but I’m particularly interested in:

  • What do you think of the new UI? Do you prefer it over the old one?
  • Is it more or less readable than the old one? (Or about the same?)
  • Do the new icons help make combat easier to understand?
  • Is Alex’s Insight enchant too OP?
  • Did you find any bugs?

Conclusion

I very much hope you enjoy the release. It ended up being more fun to make than I expected (mostly the story elements.) Thank you for your support!

There are bugs, when I insert the gems in the Azure robe and equip it the character remains in underwear and the clothes in the inventory duplicate

Also I can't understand why after so many updates and adventures the protagonist Alex still travels with only 2 healing spells, she doesn't even have a spell to attack, even if there are few fights it remains an rpg game at least give her the bare minimum

2023-04-16 15:11:15 Alex's lack of a decent attack at this point in the game isn't an oversight but a deliberate choice. I agree all the characters need more abilities, which is what the last poll was about. I plan to give each character 1 more ability in the 10 -> 11 arc.

Thanks for the report! Edit: as a workaround, avoid equipping gems on "body" slot armor pieces for now. I think I know what the problem is, but this should keep folks out of trouble until I get it fixed.
