some people think erin and james came out of nowhere but i always remember her throwing a whole ass tantrum over the prospect of him sleeping with someone who didn't love him, and the fact that he showed up to take her to the dance and nervously paced around while he waited for her to come downstairs. like it wasn't always explicit, but it was still there just under the surface and i love how their story has unfolded these episodes.

am i the only one getting a “sorry this video doesnt exist” error when i click the link?

Gaeilge (Irish) translations for anyone interested! Woman: “Well folks how are you? Be careful, I saw the devil himself”. Then she kinda repeats be careful for a bit. When sister michael and her chat, the woman says: “my condolences for your aunt” and sister replies “she wasn’t a good person”. Not direct translation but Yano there’s the vibes

And yeah! Irish is a language. Sláinte which is said in the show as cheers when drinking means health. Also Michelle will often say slán at the end of a conversation which means goodbye :)

Also the reason Irish people say mammy is because mum in Irish is mamaí.

a really beautiful Irish phrase is “Is fearr Gaeilge briste, ná Béarla cliste” which translates to broken Irish is better than perfect English 💚🤍🧡

For some reason the Patreon app doesn’t seem to like opening Vimeo anymore. If you go to Patreon in a web browser though, it should let you open it.

A subtle thing that I think is really sweet is how Erin tells James he’s “always been banging on about going in a hot air balloon”, showing that she has been paying attention to him and things he likes or is interested in are important to her 🥰

Also the way James says “well it makes it not incest!” never fails to crack me up. And I think it’s really nice that Michelle says she’d have to stick with him in a breakup…she can be so mean to James but anytime she makes it clear that he’s family and she has his back, I think it just must mean so much to him 😭

The fortune teller/ psychic was the actor who played Varys in Game of Thrones. 😉

Granda talking to Mammy at the end always gets me a little weepy.

It's easy for us Americans to forger that Ireland, Scotland and Wales were all their own countries at one point. That's a big part of the conflict in Northern Ireland, whether they should be part of the free Irish state or the United Kingdom. Scotland and I think maybe even Wales still have independence movements and political parties. But yes, there were several forms of Gaelic along with native Irish and Welsh in those countries before they were taken over by/assimilated with the English. Great reaction guys!

Ireland is still its own country!! No 'at one point'- Ireland is a Republic

I'm very much aware that Ireland is a separate and unique country. I apologize if my wording didn't make that clear. I meant that before they came under British rule, there were historic countries in all of those places which each had their own distinct languages and cultures. The "at one point" refers to before the British Empire when Ireland, Scotland and Wales were all individual countries. That's why I then mentioned the current Irish state and the nationalist movements in Scotland and Wales. Of course, The Republic of Ireland is a sovereign nation today. Thanks for clarifying. I didn't realize my language could be misconstrued.
