New character!!!
Here is Shark girl! I wanted to try something unique, and I’m very happy with that design! The idea was that when looking at her from above and behind, she’d look like an actual shark... Somewhat. That’s why the dorsal fin is on the chest instead, the shark tail is reversed, and the light skin tone is on her back.
Her mods were Bombshell (hence the V shaped upper body), Baywatch lifeguard and Progressive underboob. It wasn't easy to figure out how to make a baywatch lifeguard swimsuit work with underboob, but the chest fin worked out perfectly with the swimsuit cutout. I'm just really happy with her!
And of course, it's also in big parts thanks to Bulumblebee! He did an absolutely amazing job with her, once again. He truly nailed it! And he also helped out figuring out the pose, too! It wouldn't have looked as dynamic otherwise.
I hope you'll like her! ^^

Here are all the monstergirl ranks:

For the most part, I've been working on various menu related changes this month.
Here is a list of what has changed in the newest build:

The heart now blinks when the Yoyo is charged

Various trinket stat descriptions have been fixed

Some walls can be clicked through because of the hidden state (it's a whole story. Had no real consequences but that cuold have changed in the future) > fixed

Current room icon in map menu when looking at a floor above or below your current position has been fixed (again)

When entering a room with a note, the editable note doesn't show up anymore. Instead, a special display note shows up at the top of the screen

BGM wobble disappears after using smash twice > fixed

Added an amount sold system in the Shop menu (will be relevant later)

Added a preset price system in the Shop menu (So I can set specific prices for each item sold rather than relying on the base price, if needed)

Improved character selection in the Spellcard menu

Added character main color. Not too relevant currently, will come into play later.

Rank can now be changed in the Character select menu

Alt palette/costume selection has been improved in the Character select menu

The ability to remove a character from the party by middle clicking the chibi has been added (removing a character through the character card is still possible)

Improved chibi animations in chara select menu, rank up menu and result screen (floating characters in particular)

Main color and rank icons are now shown in the Character select and Rank up menus

Drop item system has been vastly improved! It's a lot of fun to use now ^^

Updated the way buffs and debuffs work slightly. There was an oversight in some parts of the code.

Buffs and debuffs aren't taken into account for enemy DPS anymore (the way it used to be for example, enemies would attack less after attack buffs since the DPS value would increase more, negating the effect of the buff indirectly. Slow cast debuff now also slows down the enemy's DPS count, so they don't try to catch up in damage afterwards)

Alt color spells' stats have been automated to depend on the base spell's stats (optimisation + fool proof)

Spell/skill strength is now shown below the description

Various description code related improvements have been made

Health left gauge (the one that shows when taking a hit) is mistakenly shown as empty when switching characters, and in some other rare cases > fixed

Updated mushili a bit (The description mistakenly said over 8 mushrooms would cause damage instead of healing, the actual value was 10. The damage caused with over 10 mushrooms is now equal to the amount the spell would have healed with 5 mushrooms)

Nerfed hug (it was way too strong)

Nerfed envenom slightly

Nerfed fei alteration (Slime nurse's spell that changes oyon colors for the remainder of the fight. This now changes 1 to 3 oyon colors for the remainder of the fight.)

Added powervalue on reflect buffs (during fights)

Added power value on slow buffs/debuffs (during fights)

Attack and defense buffs and debuffs have been rebalanced. An attack buff of maximum strength multiplies the damage value by 1.5, an attack debuff of maximum strength by 0.5, Defense buffs/debuffs behave the same way, but affect the defense stat.

Improved some spell icons(hug, squeeze, earthquake, lalala, lululu, alter heal, purify, alum om, cenum om, alum sen, cenum sen)

Updated sun sprite on the spellcard, in the relic charge slot, and for the sun drops

Improved ladder hitboxes to make them easier to click

Updated some recipe ingredients to require less blue blobs and purple blobs overall

Added a debug function to set character stats and levels from damage calculator

Added consumable items, available at Nina's boutique. Consumable effects are: Increase encounter rates for the current floor, decrease encounter rates for the current floor, teleport back to last save room, Revive a party member, Remove a fight from the current room

Floor selector is now hidden in the map menu if only 1 floor was discovered in an area

Consumable items have finally been added! You might notice that these items have a different outline compared to the rest. All items have a white outline currently, but I plan to change the outline's color depending on each category. For example, all trinkets would have a green outline, all relics would have an orange outline, ingredients would have a blue outline... This kind of thing. This will make it easier to identify items at a glance ^^
There have been some additional balance changes and bug fixes, but for the most part the new changes were menu related. These ugly "use item" and "discard item" buttons have finally been replaced, and I'm especially happy with the new drop system! Changing characters in the spellcard menu makes more sense and is more aesthetically pleasing. The same goes for palette/costume selection in the character select menu, and it's now possible to change a character's rank from this menu as well!
Some spell icons have been updated as well to be prettier/make more sense, but one of the main addition is without a doubt the new spell powervalues. Each spell and skill now has one or more values shown in their description to give you a better idea of their strength, where you would be forced to experiment before. This will no doubt make it much, much easier to figure out which spell you'll want to use.

And speaking of, it's about time I added item descriptions! This is one of the things I'll be working on for the next build, along with a lot of exploration related changes and updates. Several rooms will be reworked, chest placement and content will be updated in various spots, the hint and party event systems will be added, harvestable items will be placed throughout the new areas, and more. If possible, I would also like to start adding new SFX, finally! I also want to add some new settings, including a difficulty slider, a colorblind mode that swaps oyons for Fei symbols during fights, a way to rebind keys, and a language selection setting (only english will be avaible for now, but it will be good to have ready for later). Once all of this is in place, I'll also have to think about new NPCs and cutscenes, as well as quests. I don't know how much of that I'll actually be able to do in a month, and I also have to keep designing new monstergirls! So I'm thinking of combining the result of June and July's labor into a single build to be released on August 1st.

I have some more good news. Another 3 monstergirls have been designed! New tracks have been finished as well, and I can't wait to share these in a future build.
And not just that... I finally found a 3rd artist to help me! It's been really tough to find someone, so this was a huge relief! I'll keep their identity a secret for now until they're done with their first monstergirl :B

So yeah, a very fruitful month all around! I'm getting closer and closer to finalizing every system required for BEW. As always there's still work left, but it's very encouraging!

And now, the Monstergirl poll stuff!

The next monstergirl poll has begun! You can now vote for the monstergirl you want to be included in BE Witches in the Discord server if you are a 2$+ patron!

The poll will be active until the 12th of this month. After this, you will be able to change your submitted modifier until the 15th. Finally, the two rounds of the modifier poll will take one week each afterwards.

Monstergirl poll rules

Poll submissions

Also, now is a good time to submit a monstergirl and/or modifiers if you haven't already as a patron! If you can't think of anything to submit, here is a list of ideas you can choose from. You'll need to join the server to submit anything!

And that's all for now! Thank you! ^^
