The driver is right: His confederates are assholes. And the opening Lester is shooting out of? It's a "serving window" between the kitchen and dining room, through which one could pass trays of food. I dunno if they still have those in modern homes.

Had one of those in the house I grew up in. I think the place was late 70's/early 80's vintage.

They do want her out of circulation, don't they? The first house I owned had just such a window over the kitchen sink. Originally it was a conventional window to the outside, but when the previous owner built a ranch house around the <i>trailer,</i> they put a laundry room adjacent to the kitchen. I kept my fncy glassware on the sill of the serving window.
