FAQ (Patreon)

If you have any questions regarding the content here on my patreon, you might find the answers here in the frequently asked questions. If there is something you want to ask that is not on here, feel free to contact me! 

Q. Where can I see all the maps without scrolling through patreon?

Q. Is there a schedule?

A. There is no schedule! I produce content full time, and unless I receive commissions I will always try to put out as many maps and assets as I can each month. I do not work to a monthly schedule though and this is one of the reasons I don't have a per map system. When the content is ready, it gets posted straight away.

Q. What's the best way to contact you?

A. The fastest way to contact me is through the Caeora discord server, during a normal work day I’m usually always online and should see your message pretty quickly.

Q. Do you take commissions outside patreon?

A. Not anymore. Not unless I have a business relationship with someone. 

Q. Can I use your maps in a commercial project?

A. From this date: 23/03/2019 all maps I create are for personal use only unless you support me at the Dragon tier. Any maps I made before this date are free to use, if you are unsure about the dates and what you can use please come and chat with me about it! 

Q. Scribe Patron Details?

 A. I made this tier so that anyone can support me after using my free content and want to put a little something forward to help produce more content. This is my most basic tier and some of the little sneak peeks and polls are there to give you a behind the scenes look my process and upcoming projects. 

Q. Veteran Patron Details? 

A. While the battlemaps that I make might be free, I love to create recolours of those maps to help Dungeon Master's create more interesting and varied content. A great example of this is my Sword Coast map with Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter versions that you can see here: https://www.caeora.com/product-page/sword-coast

In addition if I make any tokens (These are normally creature tokens) Then this tier will gain access to them! 

Q. Dragon Patron Details? 

A. My small commercial licence now applies to anyone at this tier and covers them for creating content such as adventures on the DM’s Guild or on DrivethruRPG. This license change will apply to all new maps going forwards and if you do not support me at this tier than you can only use my maps from this point onwards for personal use. Details on what I mean by small commercial use is further down in this FAQ.

Q. Hero Patron Details? 

A. Only patrons at my highest tier will be able to commission me from now on. Each person at this higher tier will be able to put their name on a list (one map at a time) and then I will contact them when I can do the commission in the order on the list. We will talk details and payment and then I will do the map in my own time. This does NOT mean I will be doing commissions each month or any other kind of timeframe. I will do commissions when I have free time. I am making this very clear so that people on the list do not think they will be able to get a map for a game in a few months. It might take years to get a map made by me.

Q. What is “The List”

A. I often talk about the list in posts and it's simply the content that I have written down that will be made and worked on in the future!

Q. What is the discord server?

A. Discord is a community discussion and voice chat service where you can chat, share things and keep up to date with Blue Sword Games posts and content. The Blue Sword server is a great place to talk about anything RPG related and you can share stuff you've made/found in one of the channels for others to use if you want as well. Once you become a supporter there should be a link to the server for you to join up. You may have to link your patreon account to discord as well to get the role assigned. 

Q. What is "Small Commercial Use". 

A.  “Small commercial use” in this sense is considered anything made in small quantities by an individual or small business (i.e. websites, online articles, modules, adventures, campaigns etc). You are not authorized to use these files for redistribution in part or whole for free or for sale as art or part of an art collection, for print-on-demand designs, or mass distribution/production. 

You can use my work in almost all projects related to tabletop RPGs this includes for modules, adventures, campaigns etc sold on DM’s guild or DrivethruRPG. If you are running a large business or kickstarter, and intend to mass produce books that include my art you will have to discuss this with me to work out either a paid license to do so, or my permission. This is very dependant on the project and its best to come and talk with me about stuff like that.  

Q. If I leave the Dragon tier, can I still use any maps commercially?

A. Any maps that were available to you during your Dragon tier pledge period will be available to use with my small commercial license. However if you leave and try to use any free or exclusive maps you might come across online that were released after you left, you may not use them in any commercial projects until you once again pledge to the Dragon tier.

Q. How would you like me to credit you in a project?

A. Just "Caeora" works for me! :)
