Go to YouTube and search for videos that answer your questions. Every issue you have encountered has already been solved by someone else. It will surprise you what you can find. I have a nephew who works on his own car when needed, and he never buys a manual. Any repair that needs to be done has a corresponding video that some anonymous good Samaritan has solved and posted for the rest of the world. Be somewhat specific, such as "ZOOM H5 NTG2 adapter", or ZOOM power to microphones". As I previously posted, it is unlikely you will get binaural sound as you expect. It takes more than two microphones to create the illusion. You haven't wasted any money. The cleaner sound, and the better texture of what you record will make a great difference, and you will have more options for things to do with your videos when the microphones capture sounds you couldn't capture previously. Some of the other channels I occasionally watch have invested in 3Dio Freespace units, and do little with them but rub ears. One channel stopped using it after a month and has gone back to what they had originally. Don't stress about it. We don't need a binaural you, just the best you, and you will be the best you you have ever been. :∞)

I think Zoom has dual purpose sockets in that it will take male XLR or 1/4 inch.

Get a 3.5mm (the other, small end of the XLR cable you have) to 1/4" adapter at a walmart or something. The XLR inputs on the H5 will take a 1/4" in the center of the connection. It might not look like it but it does, just push it in the center. If you need more help let me know. I enjoy audio gear~

Also just fyi "binaural" audio is basically stereo (two channel, left & right) with emphases on directional sounds being recorded by the microphones. It's a fancy term for stereo recording at the end of the day.

Using an adapter would lose the 'balanced' aspect of the XLR which potentially would mean increased noise although I'm not sure if it would be noticable over a short cable run. May as well get proper XLR cables if you want to connect two devices with XLR sockets...

You're is absolutely right :) I would add that the adapter must be a mono one (with only one black stripe on it).
