It's that time again, people. Time for more weird, random, end of the month Blue Glow one offs. The video equivalent of the coffee that's been sitting at the bottom of the pot all day. This one is golf. Sadly not Mario Golf or Hot Shots golf or any of the fun, silly golf games. This one's a serious golf game.

That's okay, serious golf games can still be fun. Like those old arcade ones with the big ball that you roll. I love those fuckers. But this isn't one of those either. It's the most advanced of the most serious of the most wannabe sim professional pooptastic no fun allowed kinda sports games there is, and that's one of those bastard 2K games.

I remember when NFL 2K first came out on the Dreamcast, that game was awesome. It was an alternative to Madden and it was way better. But i don't know what happened, these games get less gamey and more shit every year. I think the downfall started when the WWE games went 2K, and traded all the actual fun gameplay for overly complicated joystick wrangling, and tutorial boxes popping up with every fucking rest hold being a different nonsensical button timed minigame in the middle of the match, because somehow that's more realistic.

Now anytime you try to play anything with 2K in the title get ready for some ugly ass box menu UI, a thousand license agreements, microtransactions and online stores for a fucking t-shirt in the character creator, and of course the obligatory endless tutorials. Because hitting the ball at the hole really needed to be explained.

I hate this i hate this i hate this i hate this i hate this. Simulation style gameplay ruined sports games, and all the other modern inconveniences that plague gaming today are the nail in the coffin.

One of the Hot Shots Golf games back in the day let you play as Gex. That's what video game golf should be about. Bring back that stuff. Actually, forget about the golf, just bring back Gex.
