Oh cool, you noticed Jayne from Firefly, most people miss who that is. The actor is Adam Baldwin by the way. The main Fed agent is played by Gary Busey. Gary Busey is famous for being kind of crazy and having very prominent front teeth. Also for being a Federal agent trying to conceal alien activity the agent character is actually pretty reasonable to Danny Glover, he's like "Alright dude you keep getting in the way so I'm just gonna tell you what's happening." At 93:44 is a skull from the Alien from the movie Aliens. It's the very long skull thats facing sideways. In the first Predator movie the guy with glasses that made all the dirty jokes, that actor Shane Black has become a famous director and writer. He made Iron Man 3, and he makes really good action comedy movies. That's in no way related to this movie, I just thought that was cool trivia. I think you'll really like the Alien movies. Well Alien 1 and Alien 2. Alien 3 and 4 are not as good.

You're right that making the Jamaicans a "Voodoo posse" doesn't make sense. In the original script they were Rastafarians, but they thought people wouldn't know what Rastafarianism was, so they changed it to 'Voodoo' and figured that most of the audience wouldn't actually know enough about Jamaica to see why it was wrong. The reporter Tony Pope was played by Morton Downey Jr., who pretty much was just as aggravating, insulting, and offensive in real life. I'm not overly kind to this film, but I will credit it for managing to pull off the mid-film tone switch very well. Tone-wise, it’s almost two completely different films that split when Harrigan is pulled into the OWLF command center. Beforehand everything is LOUD, from the soundtrack to the dialogue to even the number of people on screen. Every room and street is filled with people, with a burning sun in the sky during day and flashing lights at night. Afterwards it’s so quiet. Long stretches with no soundtrack, or very subdued music emphasizing tension and uncertainty. There’s dark lighting, very little dialogue, and much of what dialogue there is is breathless. With this switch Harrigan steps straight from an action movie into a sci-fi thriller film.
