There's got to be another reason. 34:35 Akainu was approaching to Luffy, but Aokiji went instead, and then he saw the attack but proceeded not to dodge it. It seems to me that Aokiji actually saved Luffy here from Akainu and carefully backed down. At 49:17 Aokiji did a hole in his chest right before Whitebeard "penetrated" him, so that way he avoided being seriously injured, and then at 49:35, Aokiji sees the attack again, but now he couldn't dodge it because he was busy with Whitebeard. But that sneaky attack from Jozu only injured Aokiji's lips. If you ask how Aokiji knew that Whitebeard was going to hit him in the chest, it was just the same power as Luffy showed once when he was fighting Mihawk and avoided being cut both of his arms by Mihawk, but Aokiji used it intentionally, whereas Luffy didn't realize what he did. Fun fact: In the manga, Akainu stopped Whitebeard's attack with his hands in his pockets. Making him a bit more badass. 1:02:27 It's interesting that they focus on Garp's cape, which means "Justice". Please just don't let it be that Crocodile's is reason because he is Luffy's mom hahaha Btw thanks for explaining these scenes, it really looked like Akainu was heading to Luffy and Aokiji jumped in first and the stuff with Aokiji making a hole is really interesting.
