here few details. 1. roswaal only know that he can loop but he doesn't know that he has to die to activate it. so, he is not trying to kill him when he kicks him, he just super frustrates that subaru not have any progress on what he wants at all that's why he kicks him. 2. in the last scene subaru not get the kiss because before their lips touch, he dies. so, he does not get one.

Villagers resent Emilia because of the snow and she tried to prove herself by repeating the trial over and over again and that broke her. At the end you can see that life in Subaru´s eyes is gone, so she kissed him seconds after she realized that he died.

Roswaal knows Subaru can restart because of the book, but he doesn't know that he needs to die to activate his ability, he thinks he can do it when he wants. That's why he killed Ram and Garfield and beat his ass, so he would restart.

at 26:30 when he mentions the letter, its the blank letter sent in S1. What actually happened was that Rem sent the letter, but since her name/memory were eaten by Gluttony the letter turned blank. I guess Subaru is thinking Roswaal sabotaged it.

also, its not super clear in the episode but Roswaal does not know that Subaru has to die to reset. He tortures Subaru to try to get him to reset, and says he wont kill him (he thinks killing him will actually kill him).
