Read-A-Rama: The Forgotten Maxis Game (thankfully.)

I'm not sure what part Maxis actually played in making this edutainment game happen, but Read-A-Rama is a bizarre sight to behold. Also looking at its twisted Selena Studios sibling, Spell-A-Rama from 1995!

Haha... For realz? What garbageware! But it makes the best videos ever! Don't you ever stop, Clint! :D (Just love the reference to End of the world.swf FIRE ZE MISSILES!)

i both love and hate you for sharing this...

For the morbidly curious, I'm uploading the full intro logo "animation" here for your pleasure. It's absurd. https://youtu.be/C44ueKuMhqs

the only thing missing from these games are some FRESH OATS

This may be the first time anyone has used the phrase "disgracing your computer".

SuperBunnyBun

Wooooow. This feels like Maxis's "Starwars Holiday Special", in that they'd like to claim it doesn't exist and destroy all copies of it while at it. Worth the search?

I think I will be able to live the rest of my life happily knowing that I will never have played either of these games.

Between you and some of the stuff that Vinesauce has been finding for Windows 3.1 lately, I've discovered that there's a whole era of "Interactive CD-ROM Experiences" that I need to explore in great depth.

Anyone else felt uncomfortable when the big CRASH appears just in front of the World Trade Centre in Spell-A-Rama?

Are we absolutely certain that Maxis did distribute this or is it possible Selena falsely slapped the Maxis label on for distribution purposes? I find it bizarre that no Maxis catalog has a mention of this game. At all. Then again, their record scrubbing may be on point. And that content. Man. It's in such bad taste that I feel dirty and my brain needs some good strong bleach. :V

Rerez

Well these games exist. -_-

Clint I am sorry you had to suffer through those 2 games, if they can be called games. If they made us feel uncomfortable I can't imagine how you felt.

floverSaeu09

bahaha what is this?? :D ahahaha

I need to watch Ninja Nanny after this. It's become an edutainment tradition.

Playing Doom is more educational than this. :P

Congrats on hitting your Patreon goal! You've earned it and I loved your voicemail message in Thimbleweed Park!

Congratulations on reaching the same number of dollars as the number of colours an Amiga 500 can display at once! 4096 is kinda of a magic number to me and many other people who remember when that was an amazing number of colours for a machine to be able to display. :)

Lindsay Michelle

My face during every single clip of these games: o.O ...Did you actually leave the room at the end of the video? lol. Can't say I blame you :P

LazyGameReviews

I am not absolutely certain of this, no. I'd love to find some concrete evidence either way though!

Bubsy was voiced by Rob Paulsen for most of his existence so probably not.

This is one of the funniest reviews I've seen in a long while. Thank you.
