Just a quickly-made, simple episode here! I'm in the middle of setting up, testing, preparing, and packing up all of the things that I'm taking to VCF Midwest, and this is one of the projects I really wanted to take care of before leaving six days from now.

Not much more to say, really! It's a straightforward "adding a thing to a thing" video, using a graphics card that has already gotten its own video in the past. If nothing else it's nice to see that the Bear-A-Byte PC runs better and will be a bit more enjoyable on the show floor a couple weekends from now!

There will likely be another super simple video as well in the coming days, but we'll see if I get that slotted in amongst all the other things going on. Getting pretty stoked for VCF :)

Upgrading the Pentium III Bear PC with a more bearable GPU

Graphics performance on the LGR Bear-A-Byte computer was unbearable, it really needed a GPU upgrade. Or a GPU at all for that matter! So say goodbye to the integrated SIS chipset and hello to the Diamond Stealth III S540 video card from 1999. It's still a 500MHz Windows Me system but this has to be an improvement, right? ● LGR links: https://www.patreon.com/LazyGameReviews https://www.twitter.com/LazyGameReviews https://www.facebook.com/LazyGameReviews 00:00 Previously with the Bear PC.. 01:13 Diamond Stealth 3 Savage4 02:22 A brief visit to LGR storage 03:55 Revisiting how bad it is 06:20 Bear disassembly, upgrading 07:24 It's NEVER so simple! 09:10 Success? 09:21 Drivers and software 10:19 Unreal Tournament 12:09 Need For Speed III Hot Pursuit 13:36 Legacy sound, Duke Nukem 3D 15:07 Liero 16:53 A definite improvement! #LGR #retro #computer #upgrade #graphics

Yay! I love seeing somewhat obscure graphics cards put to good use. Man it would be cool to be at the show and see this in person. Not sure if it matters for a quickie video, but I believe the framerate counter in UT is just showing milliseconds (shown as msec) between frames. I could be wrong.

The spacing between measurements is kinda weird. The first number (FRAMES = xxx.x) is the frame rate, the numbers after that (MSEC RENDER = xxx.x) are millisecond times of how long it took to render the last frame.

Bit of an audio glitch, the last 5 seconds or so repeat at the end.

Very glad to see the Big Bear PC being upgraded! It desperately needed an actual GPU in there haha

Actually this video made me kinda curious about the logistics of traveling to shows with all the hardware you want to show off🤔

Good to hear, I’ve been filming more of that process this time around for the eventual VCFMW video!

Oh you gotta bring the hat and shades to put on em' for the show for pictures and such, it was too funny😂 . Look forward to seeing you there, I'm going to be right next to your table doing all sorts of Apple II shenanigans.

Heh it’s tempting, the bear’s the perfect size for dressing up. Stoked to hang out at the show, it's gonna be crazy busy!

Just an idea for a quickie vid. Ever thought of playing around with AI voice synthesis? Like taking a previous vid of yours and dubbing over your own voice but with the voice of various celebrities. It'd make some of your older vids with iconic moments a bit silly. Imagine, one of your episodes being narrated over by someone like Ving Rhames or Morgan Freeman, or hell even something like Mark Hamill's joker.
