Greetings to all $5+ patrons. Liiiiiive from New York, it's the LGR Wrap Up!

The LGR channel wrap up/Q&A thing for July is here and ready to partake of at your convenience. I'm currently in New York for the Long Island Retro show, but had a bit of downtime before the con and figured why not record this with quite the metropolitan backdrop – 20 floors up in Manhattan!

And as always, leave any questions for next month's video in the Patreon comment section below this post. Have an awesome August, and of course a huge thank you for your ongoing support! Hope to see some of y'all this weekend, too.

New York City is so awesome. Have a great time!

Why do you think the edutainment genre died? Given the fact that kids use tablets and phones these days, do you think there is any hope for the genre in the future?

Thanks for signing my PowerMac G4 Quicksilver at LIRetro! Hope you didn't go to Hempstead at night like I mentioned.

My pleasure, you were a legend for hauling that all the way there! And yeah I steered clear of there and made my way straight onto the airport from the convention instead of trying Hempstead station 👍

My question for you: how do you think about the amount of money you're willing to spend on the subjects of your videos? I imagine you try to avoid spending more on something then you'll ever get from covering it :)

Regarding the Adobe suite and macOS -- I've got a 14-inch MacBook Pro M2 Max. It's a great machine, but with Premiere Pro when comparing it to my main Threadripper Pro box with a 4090, it's not even close. Render/export times are 2-3 times longer, and honestly, the software has been rock solid for me on both Windows and macOS, so not much difference there. Plus, if you want to game, even with the new Apple Game Dev Toolkit, the PC is the obvious option -- so that box can serve both purposes. Gotta have my MSFS 2020. Now, for performance per watt... no contest. Apple Silicon is obviously going to win -- every time. I certainly care about that in a laptop. On a desktop -- not so much. So... PC desktop running Windows (or Linux) and Mac laptop seems like a nice combo. Anyway, just my 2 cents, fwiw.

Still a nope on getting action as a comic. But funny enough my buddy Andy, whom is also a comic, gets tons of offers right and left. He's married though. He's always ready to whip out that info anytime the Mrs is griping about being not single. In retrospect I do wonder if a lot of the offers have to do with him being in a wheelchair because of his cerebral palsy. Other than that I just can't explain it. On a stacked show of half a dozen comedians, he gets hit on all the freaking time.

Hey Clint! Question: For me, at some point I realized how important sports are for my physical and especially mental health. Do you do sports and if yes, what kind of sports do you do?

down for a local meetup. i've never been to one, but i'm down. scotch neat please! me and friends used to have lan parties fairly often back in the day. we eventually outgrew our houses and many years ago a bunch of us rented out a hotel conference room for a lan party. another time my old neighborhood club house. the hoa made a new rule after that night haha. broadband eventually killed our lan parties. and now we're all much older and don't even have the time to game over the internet

Adobe is probably never going to natively be supported on Linux. Chicken in the egg problem. Not enough people using Linux so Adobe isn't going to build it for Linux but not enough people are using Linux because the lack of commercial software. Wine as the translation layer works well for wherever the development time as been put. Proton for gaming has been great but the latest iteration of Office products just don't seem to work well, perhaps it is just lack of development time but regardless, it's just not there. Codeweavers.com has been doing much of the development work. All that said, I have been using Linux as my primary OS for the last 20 years and I think it is great but that "last mile" polish, in many ways, is missing but I still wouldn't go back to using Windows or Mac.

Hey Clint, question for next time: have you considered opening up YouTube memberships as an alternative to Patreon? I've had multiple fraud issues on Patreon and I've moved all my business elsewhere besides my support for you, should you provide an alternative I'd immediately switch. Thanks.

Since you've had a chance to use the Sony ZV-1, what do you think of it so far? I'm thinking about asking for one as a massive milestone birthday present, mainly to use for taking pictures/video of my son better than my Pixel 3a does and for recording YouTube videos for fun.
