Happy Tuesday morning! Got a new LGR episode going live riiiiight about now.

Press embargoes though. I had to wait until this very minute to share the video, even though it's been ready to go for about a day now. Eh, so it goes.

That being said though: DOOM ETERNAL! RIP and TEAR!!

Been waiting on this thing for going on four years now, and wow, what a wild game it turned out to be. As a lifelong id Software and Doom franchise fan this has been an absolute treat to dive into. So I hope  this pre-release review brings about some personal satisfaction and maybe answers the questions you may have about it.

And if not, lemme know in the comments! I'm happy to answer things at this point. Had to avoid spoilers in the review of course, but as far as I'm concerned it's now an information free-for-all.

Anyway yeah, this is all I've been working on this for the past week and the time has passed by in a blink in retrospect. How odd. I'm now finally able to get back to my sidelined projects, meaning that some more old school LGR Things are incoming soon so stay tuned!

It's awesome that Bethesda has managed to bring back two FPS franchises back from the dead (Wolfenstein and Doom). Now they only need to grab the rights to Duke Nukem and we'll have a proper follow-up :)

I'd been a bit worried on finding out how the resupply triangle thing worked, but glad to hear no complaints about that - and that the armor refills don't require actually getting the kill with fire. Though, I wonder - if you torch an enemy, then either do a glory kill or chainsaw kill, do you get health or ammo pickups in addition to the armor?

It was a great video :) I am however skeptical, and it doesn't look so appealing to me. I had an open mind when I was young, now it's not sadly. I doesn't feel like doom to me from watching the video. It's so crazy and cartoony. I do like the part with the classic doom song and sound effects, and the man cave room.

I'm amused everytime DOOM's "plot" is mentioned. That really passed me by growing up with linuxdoom and wads of questionable origin. Great review. :)

I see that the Classic Doom gun position was in part of your review. Is that an option in the option menu or just for a certain part of the game? I played through Doom 2016 with that mode enabled and found it a lot more enjoyable for some reason

Wowww I love how the art looks, super over the top and surreal. That's what disappointed me about DOOM 2016, I found it a bit too "grimdark" and I missed the more saturated colors of the original. Great review, this game looks like an absolute blast

Yep, that's how it works! Combine your methods of killing demons, get different items. Chainsaw+fire gives ammo and armor, Doomblade+fire gives health and armor.

Man I would love to see what Id or Machinegames could do with Duke. Shame it's up to Gearbox, heh. There's an amusing related easter egg in the Doomguy's mancave actually. A book by Dork Norkem 😁

I've preordered the collectors' edition that comes with the Doom Guy helmet, picking it up Friday afternoon. I was excited already, from what I got to see at PAX last year, but hoo boy, your review made me GET PSYCHED.

Only bought the game after seeing your review. Played the first one a month ago and decided to drop the $ for this one. Glad I did, been an amazing game so far
