April means edutainment on LGR, and 2019 is no different!

Throughout the month I'll be covering two or three entertainingly educational software titles, with the first entry being this somewhat obscure one from 1994.

Rescue the Scientists was not only the final Redwood Games release (following in the footsteps of Pickle Wars, Math Rescue, and Word Rescue) but it was also the first computer game actor Christopher Lloyd ever worked on! Not that these facts mean that it's a fantastic edutainment game, but yeah.

How this ended up being a sixteen minute video, I have no idea. Hope you enjoy!

I wasn't aware Christopher Lloyd has worked on a video game besides Toonstruck. Any chance you'll cover that title too?

Around 4:37 the kid says "Our solar oven disappeared too!" wtf is a solar oven, and how does this child know about them?

Cristopher Lloyd too old to time travel... in any other kind of game I'd assume that was an intentional bit of irony, but here I can't help but wonder if it just happens to be a coincidence. I mean, surely they brought Lloyd on the time travel plot on purpose, but that little tidbit there is what has me wondering if they meant it.

"And my dad's crowbar is missing!" Uh, why was she looking for her dad's crowbar?

LazyGameReviews

Potentially, sure. I've seen it covered by a number of others already though so it's not high on my list.

Sanguine Games

Wait a minute ... • Mazes you navigate with the mouse • Cryptograms • Crosswords that unlock a single vertical word • Rectangular jigsaw puzzles • Word scramble puzzles that require you to push buttons in a certain order • A matching card game where you're not told the rules in advance These are all puzzles from THE FOOL'S ERRAND! https://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/fools-errand/screenshots I call shenanigans on this.

...I'm gonna have to cover this on my own show someday, aren't I? >_>;;;

Man, the Glixer(ian)s sound like the Sorceress from Spyro 3.

I'm not sure what's weirder: the idea that Hollywood producers in 2010 took a premise from this obscure 1990s game, or the fact that at least two people independently thought up the idea of a Hot Tub Time Machine.

Great Scott, it's LGR Edutainment Month again! Now we know where the "Hot Tub Time Machine" film comes from. LGR, debunking Hollywood. I like Edutainment Month and I feel very edutained indeed.
