LGR - G-Nome Review

Oh man, I had this game as a kid. I think it was a disc-only copy that came bundled in a software package with a computer.

Scorp Scorp Scorp Scorp...

I love looking back at old 90's games, especially all that "3D Super duper realistic need a new PC to play it" stuff with those sweet looking large areas and those textures and mountains.. Mmmmm. I loved that about Mech games.. In saying that I hated mech games, always found them boring, Nevertheless it was always fun just roaming around the levels taking in the design.

Was it this game where you could snipe other pilots to steal their mechs? I keep getting my childhood demo memories all messed up.

Terry Lee

At least I had Mech Warrior 2...

Grand Theft HAWC. I laughed a lot when that came up… I'll give them props for the innovation on that feature, but the game as a whole looks so rough. Especially up against how clean Mechwarrior 2 *still* looks with its minimal texturing, and crisp graphics. It's one thing I miss about the 90s… giant robots, and weird off-shoot experiments in my games ;)

Another great review! I still say though that the Crescent Hawks Revenge is the perfect Battletech / Mechwarrior game. None of these fancy 3D graphics for me, thank you very much.

How troublesome might it be to try to run this on Win10 x64?

Kris Asick

I didn't have hardware accelerated graphics until 1999, and by then Mech3 was either already out or right on the horizon, so I missed out on the more obscure mecha games like this one. :P

I had it running with Dosbox IIRC, emulating Win95 inside. Or a VirtualBox VM... I'm not home to check sorry.

I had this one, came with a Packard Bell pc we got at costco. My friend and I had such a frustrating time with this game that it has kind of gone down as legend for us. We still joke about it 20 years later. Thanks for the walk down memory lane, I really enjoyed this Clint.

I picked up a free Demo CD of this from the local CompUSA back in 1997. The intro was spectacular, but the game was ... not so good. Still, this video takes me back in time. Can't believe it's been 20 years.

watching this made me want to play Homeworld.....so I think I will!

I think this game could have benefited from mechanized gnomes.

So Jennifer Hale can't save the project. Sad . . .
