Lazy Game Reviews is eight years old, wow! To celebrate I'm doing something enjoyably ridiculous: building a modern PC into the case of an Altair 8800 Clone. Because why not.

This video has taken ages to put together due to a variety of complications and roadblocks, plus just getting all the physical resources together and the tedious editing process. Ended up with 4 hours and 100GB of footage by the time I was done, all edited down into 15 minutes. It was worth it I think, this turned out to be super fun :)

This is pretty exciting!!!

Congrats on the 8 years! Thanks for sticking with, man. This has easily been one of my favorite YouTube channels so I am glad it is still going strong! P.S. Love your food channel too!

Congrats on 8 years! And what an awesome 8 years it's been :)

Anonymous

Congrats on the 8 year anniversary! For extra irony you should now run an Altair emulator on that PC. :D

Anonymous

Hmm some of these boards if you but the BIOS bin file on a certain USB it will load it and update. Yea, that sucks though. Congratulations on 8 years!!

LazyGameReviews

Yeah it will *IF* there's the proper CPU installed so it knows to do that. Otherwise it won't even boot to the USB to flash the BIOS :P

TJ @ The Variety Show Podcast

Great fun! Have had a lot of fun watching all your vids from start to finish. Makes my day when I see something new to watch. From no beard to beard to no beard again, keep up the good work!

LazyGameReviews

Thanks, I'm glad it's still going strong too! The past year has been the best in LGR history so far and it only seems to be improving :)

Congratulations Clint! Coolest case ever! I would have it say "Greetings Professor Falken. Would you like to play a game?" when you boot it though.. (even though it's not the actual Altair from Wargames. But who cares, it's close enough! :D)

Anonymous

An awesome 8 years at that too! Also this has to be one of the best things I've seen ever, as far as computer builds go. :) - The case alone totally wins it!

Congrats on 8 years dude! This was a fun video to watch! XD Building a computer from scratch is always fun no matter what the setup is and this was no exception! Never thought about splicing cables and drilling holes into the case to make it work before honestly lol =P Keep up the amazing work dude! =D!

The Grenade motherboard with the actual model grenade was hilarious. I do agreed they are appealing to the 14 year old dude gamer, that are buying motherboards by the dozen, I'm sure. But anyways, yay for eight years of LGR! I'm glad to have watched you for four(!) of them! You always seem to stay true to where you've come from and that shows in the growth of your channel. :)

8 years? Man, seems like only yesterday when I stumbled onto the channel. (Which was 3 years for me. Needed something to pass the time when doing military training.) Anywho, congrats on the 8 year anniversary LGR! :D

Great restomod. I love it! I'm looking at doing something similar to a late eighties PC but because it's my daily driver cooling is going to be a problem.

Here are two of my favorite restomods: <a href="https://youtu.be/NGcglci5_WM" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/NGcglci5_WM</a> <a href="http://www.instructables.com/id/70s-Terminal-PC/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.instructables.com/id/70s-Terminal-PC/</a>

LazyGameReviews

Seems like only yesterday myself, it's bizarre that some of my mini-series alone (like Oddwar) I've been doing longer than I've had some "real" jobs, haha.

Woots 8 Years!!! Also I received the 5.25" floppy disk. Me and my dad loved it, thumbs up the with the quality content.

Welcome to my world! Since I'm dealing with hardware in most of my episodes, it seems nothing ever goes to plan.

moosemaimer

mmm, Jefferson. Problems just melt away.

Congrats on going 8 years strong!

Anonymous

Congratulations on 8 years. Here's to another 8 fantastic years worth of videos and content. :)

OMG gaming marketing. I have am MSI B series board which is targeted at businesses but it still displays its giant "MILITARY CLASS 4" crap on bootup. Btw...gaming keyboards are the worst.

Anonymous

Congratulations on 8 years! Here’s to many more!!! Funnily enough I had the exact same problem with the un-updated bios couple of weeks ago. Cost me my weekend to figure out what the problem was...

Anonymous

Crysis is 10 years old.... That hurts me so much.

Anonymous

Very nice project. You can install an USB to serial adapter to transform your PC in a terminal for the Altair, and with some code you could flash its LEDs according to the state of the PC, too. And by the way congratulations for 8 years of awesomeness !

Anonymous

Good on ya Clint for making it 8 freaking years! Great stuff as always. Love that case man.

Justin Dotson

Now I want a new retro looking pc. Thanks for that.

long live LGR

You need a turbo button on that thing man! :P

Anonymous

That's pretty cool. Here's to another 8 years!

Anonymous

Great video !!! It 's kind of cool if make PC Part as terminal (via putty terminar emulator ) of Altair 8800

Anonymous

Congrats on the 8 year anniversary! Oh my, does time fly, especially when you're having fun. And yeah, when I saw you unpack that H110 motherboard the first thing I thought was "hopefully it comes pre-flashed with the latest BIOS, otherwise Clint's gonna have a problem with that Kaby Lake processor". Guess it didn't. Good thing you had another Skylake processor lying around then.

Anonymous

Yeah but does it run Doom? All kidding aside congrats on 8 years dude!

Anonymous

Congrats on 8 years, Clint! Here's for another one! Also, any plans on expanding that PC (I mean I know you said you want to, but still :P )? It doesn't look like it can fit a Graphics card without some more modification.

floverSaeu09

:D Awesome!!! Here's to 8 more years and beyond!!

Watching this in 4K. I wonder what percentage of your viewers watch in 4K thus far. Does YT have analytics on that?...

Anonymous

I can't belielve you've been doing this show since the heyday. I hope you get more popular Clint! Thanks for all the great videos.

Anonymous

P.S. That story about the CPU/BIOS update was funny. I've experienced similar things.

I think cable like this would be best way to mount USB ports <a href="https://www.amazon.com/CGTime-0-5M-Panel-Mount-Cable/dp/B01IBXZ1HO/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.amazon.com/CGTime-0-5M-Panel-Mount-Cable/dp/B01IBXZ1HO/</a>

Congrats on 8 years! Very slick editing on this video. Nice infographic in the corner. Also the Altair clone was a great choice for a modern system case. I'm looking forward to seeing any modifications you make to it in the future.

Well Done Clint!! Keep up the great vids and reviews.
