Since there's four people in my head, I have taken to using "we" a lot because, well, sometimes I'm not the one who did something or we made a decision as a group.
We're still here, we're still writing. We'll be sticking to the schedule we put out as best we can.
The complicating factor this month is that our normal, usually very productive, trips to LA to be with our found family sometimes go a little sideways. This time things practically fell off the map. Two members of our family here got COVID and we had to figure out different accommodations for where we were staying and it derailed a lot of plans. We're testing negative and not getting any symptoms so we think we're okay, but we'll probably check again in a couple days.
The derailment of our plans has led to a lot of sleep deprivation. Things are getting better, but more slowly than we'd like.
In good news, Akiko, our girlfriend here, was looking at how we play guitar (very rhythmically with good timing and a tendency toward single notes instead of chords) and handed us a bass. We'd been playing guitar for 15 years and we really really really should've tried a bass at some point during that time because we are incredible at bass. Though we can't do anything all that advanced yet, the hardest part to train: keeping a rhythm for a whole song, is completely natural to us. We have had more fun playing bass than any other instrument ever and we were able to play while Akiko improvised guitar stuff on top of our playing.
We will be working as best we can to get the first draft of "Mile High Neighs" out to beta readers later this week. If we did in fact catch COVID or hit a roadblock, we will let you know, but we're hoping the chaos is over for now.
We love writing and thank y'all for putting up with the little setbacks and other things we get held back by. Things are definitely getting better for us and we're so glad to have y'all along for the ride.
