The first week had some issues. The girls powered through, but... The camera work was iffy, as was the lighting (the lead was in the dark too often). YG should have stuck with the YG dancers. These people were very talented, but they were often distracting - which is not what back-up dancers are supposed to be - because they (especially the guys) seemed intent on mugging to the camera. The stage was too big and poorly laid out. The girls often had to practically run to get where they needed to be. I also always have an issue with stairs being an integral part of a live performance. Jennie almost broke her ankle on one of those once. YG needs to get a handle on those hands-free mics - EVERY time BP performs with them at least one of them is having problems with them. It's not like this is new tech. The girls looked visibly more comfortable when they came out in the 2nd half with their usual pink hand-held mics. Overall, the girls did great, but YG packed the set list too tight - the girls didn't have a chance to breathe. It was a bit overproduced, which lead to some blank spots. They are pro's, so they pushed through because this was the first presentation, but week two was much better on all accounts, especially because they loosened up and had more fun, since the pressure was off. I have not a single issue with the girls performance, they were absolutely fantastic as usual. Week two got most of my issues ironed out, and was much better. Both were great, but week 2 was appreciably better. As you know, I'm not a fan of focusing on numbers as a metric of popularity, but the fact that they had 125,000 live and 250,000,000 MILLION watching live streaming for both performances, meaning that, in two days they performed for over half a BILLION people boggled my mind. All-in-all, it was a triumph for BP, and well deserved. The girls delivered under tough conditions, and the hating and toxicity were remarkably small.

I have to say it as a disclaimer because there are always people who will misinterpret what I say. I loved seeing them on stage because apart from their concerts they don't do any musical event in Korea or during their promotion. to be honest their 8 first performances and songs are really good. I was amazed by the Solo of Jisoo who definitely takes the lead of the group for me since the launch of their album Born pink. But I was very disappointed by the solo performance of Rose and Lisa. have the way that they do not sing much and the playback of their songs passes over their voices. You can be a fan of a band and admit that they make mistakes sometimes. there was a real moment of less well during 3 songs. so yes I think that we can put it on the fact that the girls were carried by the atmosphere or maybe a little tired but still a little disappointed. it was better the second weekend

I think it would have been incredible for BP to bring with them the dancers of YG and the choreographers of their songs to accompany them on stage. I would have loved to see Lee jung and CHESHIR for example and all of YGX.

I'm super surprised that YG didn't release a JENNIE solo album for You and ME. it would surely have exploded sales. Jennie with pigtails I could have a heart attack if I saw her like that live. Jennie was my Bias for more than 2 years and even if it changed a lot between the 4 members now I'm frozen on Jisoo. for me it is the most solid member today and the member who has the biggest evolution. she is a better whether it's her voice, her dance, her stage presence, these facial expressions or her outfit, she's on top.

fabrice maire

you're right DG Jennie's version is perfect for Coatchella I'm disappointed with some of the song choices that we heard a lot in their debut and I would have preferred to hear more new songs like HAPPIEST GIRL or even old ones like Really or See you later . but I think they chose titles that were more danceable.

fabrice maire

still agree with you DG all eyes we might have been better for Coatchella but honestly JISOO was incredible for me the best solo among the 4 without problem she sang all that songs. this dance is super graceful and she has the best coachella outfit. I'm really starting to like this girl a lot I never thought I could love someone more than Jennie but Jisoo bewitched me the only member who never changed and who is constantly improving. Jennie, Lisa and Rosé are a little too Americanized. I hope they won't lose their original charms and what makes blackpink such an amazing band.

fabrice maire

and YES elbow to the haters. everyone who said that Jisoo's debut would be a failure. -Best solo debut for a female korean act solo and groups - best album sales for a solo female korean act with more than 1.2 million albums sales - best debut album sales - best first day stream on spotify -most music show win for a solo female with her debut songs 7wins so far rose 6 , Jennie 3 , lisa 1 _rank 2 on both billboard 200 ranking excluding US and Global (like lisa) and some other records . congrats to all blackpink members for they're fantastic solo debut.

fabrice maire

and as I said a little disappointed with Rose it was the best place to show these vocal talents. but she did 50% of playback, we heard more playback than her voice, the same for Lisa

fabrice maire

completely agree with you DG I had the chance to go to several concerts and festivals I saw dozens of kpop groups live for more than 20 years but for a few years these experiences have been a bit spoiled by mobile phones . I'm not very tall and there's nothing more unpleasant than having someone hand you a cell phone to take videos and spoiling your view. in Korea are lucky to have seats and numbered. but I saw Dreamcatcher in Paris this year and ATEEZ and the French are a little chaotic and the concerts are more manly.

I loved all of this, and Im really tired of fans having to over-analyze everything. Why can't we just say "we had fun, this was cool"

2023-06-18 13:59:18 I was there in person!! All four members did great. My friends who I dragged to this set (and don’t listen to kpop) are now fans. The entire live crowd were all so joyful, grateful and privileged to have witnessed such a huge moment in history. They were 30mins late but it wasn’t on them - the tech crew were delayed in their stage changeover between acts. I agree with negative comments about the camerawork. From my spot in the crowd I could see all 4 members, but on screen they’d often focus on one or two members at a time, missing key moments blinks watch out for and are often caught by other production crews. Their live band elevated the performance. It was also very clear and impressive when you heard their live vocals over the backing track. Even if someone was slightly off key because they were dancing so well, it made it even better
authentic. The dances come from Royal Family. Paris Goebel is the founder. They’ve done a lot of work with kpop legends
.& recently Rihanna for the SuperBowl. DG loved reliving the moment and seeing your reaction. Thank you.

Their band is The Band Six, and I love that they continue as the BP band for concerts!! I do wish that they would have used the YGX dancers, even though the dancers were awesome! I just thought it was kind of a slap in the face to them. I do know that LeeJung and SilverGun were at Coachella.

Raul Pinalez

I was thinking the same thing! I wish they would've used YGX dancers but in the end, the performance was fucking awesome and the girls kicked ass. So, we have that at least.

I actually was at Coachella for weekend two! Let me share my experience (I’ll keep it short because it’s long) they performed on Saturday at 9pm and I got to the festival more than an hour before the gates opened (they open at noon) and there were at least 50 blinks already there since early in the morning. Every single person RAN at full speed to the main stage (where they were going to perform in 9 hours). All the blinks that got there very early, including myself, pretty much stayed right in front of the main stage the whole day. It was 96 degrees Fahrenheit that day and we were sitting/standing there for 9 hours and it was SO WORTH IT I PROMISE WE ARE NOT ACTUALLY CRAZY. I took some amazing fancams! I was at barricade on the extended stage so when they did whistle, the chair dance at the end of pretty savage, and forever young, the only thing in between the girls and I were their staff, bodyguards, and a metal rail! I think they were less than five feel away from me, it was such a surreal experience and they truly are amazing performers and I say that from an unbiased perspective because it’s a fact. I could see the love they have for what they do, each other, and blinks from just looking into their eyes. I know I said I would keep this short but I guess I got carried away lmao. But yeah, I lost my voice, got a bad tan, sore body for days, but it is an experience I will never forget! And I also saw Jackson Wang!
