- Since you mentioned Su Ruiqi, fun fact: she is Handong's friend and recently covered Siyeon's solo "Entrancing" but in Chinese lyrics (On Twitter). - Sunmi watching the My House fails are probably extra funny for her since she knows the original singers (2PM) very well (both JYP). - Jihyo was a trainee for about 10 years yeah. And both Sunmi and 2PM know her as the "little kid always running around" 😄 - the 0 stars for Saitama felt wrong to me. Sure, his vocal and dancing were lacking, but to get the whole audience participating and feeling good is also a quality! And a very precious one. I have a feeling he will always be noticeable and entertaining. He reminds me of Myah from GP999. - "It seems like she can relate". Yes, Solji also had a 1.5 year hiatus from EXID although for different reasons (medical). - "What if Hui wins?". I think ppl can be part of 2 groups. Like the ppl in SuperM for example. - Just a thing I noticed: In the practice vs-battles, not only was K-group always closest to the camera, but Han Bin also danced a step more forward, putting the G member even more to the background. - I always like these evaluations. Sure, it's very heartbreaking, but it always gives me a better understanding of how difficult it all really is.

Kum Junhyeon (the one doing Jessi song), he isn't my pick but he is so funny For OSAKA TEAM, it's a shame MNET edited their performance like that, the edit was so bad for this audition in my opinion. I get they were trying to show Keita but they could have try to cut properly. Sad that Hiroto, Yuto and Kei weren't highlighted. Hiroto didn't caught my eyes but both Yuto and Kei did during the next mission. (Kei is from a Japanese group called EDAMAME BEANS) Keita is one of my top pick, I knew Ciipher by name only but Keita really impressed me, I love well balanced trainee and he is a great example, he can rap and sing but also his dance is great. The Chinese Team Ma Jiang Xian was actually the best in this performance, at some moment he was really good meanwhile during some others he had mistakes. I think it's mostly because the song might have been too high for him. From the others performances he is in, I feel like he have more of a low range, that's why he had struggle here. The others weren't good unfortunately TAKUTO / DAEUL + JUNSEO I adopted Takuto, I don't vote for him but he is just so passionnated, always trying his best and he definitely have the star quality, he know what to do to get the audience. I put Daeul and Junseo audition with his, because I think they underevaluated Takuto meanwhile they overevaluated both Daeul and Junseo. I feel the three of them should have get 1 star. WAKE ONE TRAINEES It's such a shame for MNET to have edit such a good performance. In my opinion, it was one of the best performance for the audition round. They did such a great job with this song, I feel like they could totally debut as a team but ofc WAKEONE suck so i'm not surprised. If you want the full one, you can watch it on Youtube. Park Hanbin reminded me of San HUI PART + DEBUTED IDOLS I will first talk about the others idols mentionned here. I can't talk about NINE.i since I don't know them. However, I know UP10TION well enough, seeing Hwanhee and Dongyeol here pained me so much as someone who stanned UP10TION during their debut. Their debut album was literally my kpop first album. Their group is actually older than PENTAGON, they debuted in 2015. Two of their members, Wooseok and Jinhyuk actually joined PRODUCE X101 gaining a lot of popularity but just for them not UP10TION , Wooseok debuted in X1. After everything, both ended up having solo career and they couldn't join UP10TION. Jinhyuk not too long ago actually revealed that he wanted to return and promote with the group but there was an issue which made it difficult for him to join, (mostly his solo fanbase whp threatened to leave if he was going back in the group, harassing others members and fans of U10T but i don't forget the agency TOP MEDIA, this agency suck and I will be always bitter) I mentionned about Woonggi and Sungmin (ex TO1 members) in my last comment for EP1 so I don't think I will write more about it. What WAKEONE did to them, I can't forgive, this agency will always be one of my number 1 ennemy. Even after changing their name, they are still the same piece of shit (sorry for my word), if you are curious, WAKEONE was actually called MMO (Kang Daniel ex-agency, he had conflict with them, same for my ult group IN2IT). BOYS PLANET might be Woonggi and Sungmin last chance but I don't think WAKEONE have any project for them, the fact they weren't even introduced with the others WAKEONE trainees. For PENTAGON situation, honestly their popularity isn't bad, when it's come to chart and even their albums sales, it's really good especially since it kept growing compared to the old comebacks so yeah I feel like, it's more on the promotion side where there are problems (?). Jinho also went to PHANTOM SINGER and there is a rumor about yanan going in a chinese show too (not confirmed) so it's really seem like there is a problem on the promotion side. I'm not even surprised with CUBE. Honestly I can't call myself an UNIVERSE but it's hurt to see Pentagon like this, 1 month ago I went to MIK FESTIVAL, Pentagon was here and it felt so strange to see them without Hui, Jinho, Yanan and Hongseok. It's hurt to see how it's going for them, when personally i'm a Fuse (ONF fans) and they both went to RTK but meanwhile ONF keep thriving and the promotions/management get better (when it wasn't the case before) it's the opposite for Pentagon For Hui audition, I'm glad pH-1 and ONESTAR had his back saying if someone deserved ALL STAR it was him. Honestly it would have bothered me if they didn't gave him an all stars because they gave all stars to some people who are in my opinion may be great with dancing but their singing were so weak, someone ALL STARS to me should be balanced so yeah he may have difficulty with dancing but he isn't that bad. I think his audition was well distributed, there was a lot of singing yes but he also put a part to dance. Baek Koo Young (the dance master), in BP, you will see him mostly being harsh with trainees, honestly I don't think he is bad because in GIRLS PLANET he wasn't like that so I don't know if it's MNET doing You were talking about Matthew looking like Xiumin, the masters also mentionned it, I think it was Solji last episode? I love Woonggi and Seowon dancing to HYPE BOY, they are THE DUO The one who seemed tired of it is Ji Yunseo (the one you could see yourself in him), I learned he is Nayeon (TWICE)'s cousin. Woonggi loud ass singing MY BAG by G-IDLE in the middle of the room always kill me. SIGNAL SONG I will already said it, this song is too high and it's bother me. As much as I love the song and it's might be one of my favorite survival theme song, they didn't think about the people having low range or rappers (that can't sing). So those kind of people were set up to fail with this song, you can't ask people with a very low range to sing in a range they can't Takuto trying first, this kid really is passionate and hardworking, this is what I love to see. Even if he isn't the greatest and he is lacking, he doesn't give up G-GROUP helping each others to learn the dance is such a great move from them especially knowing the fact they had less time, for example Chen Kuan Jui and Zhanghao in front of each others learning like miror, it's a great way of learning. It's bother me when they are harsh on trainees when they are just memorizing and learning the choreography right now. Not everybody have a fast learning curve and memorize everything perfectly in 1 second TEST PART : I felt sorry for Ouju, he isn't good with singing but he is so great at dancing, the fact he helped everyone in ZERO STAR SECTION and made them learn the choreography, he deserve praise for this at least In my opinion, if Takuto got 1 STAR, Mingyu should also had 1 star too. Doha I felt so bad for him, it mostly went wrong because nerves got the best of him. He failed one time and he couldn't cameback from this. It's hurt especially when you see him trying so hard and practicing again n again without rest. Cong is one of my pick, he is sooo great, same for Seunghwan (he was in the group 1THE9)

I feel like really voting based on an informed opinion is impossible by just watching this show. There 98 boys (men?) and we only see very few. Granted the episodes are long enough like it is, but for instance during Keitas performance there were 3 other guys on stage. I haven't heard them sing, I didn't hear what the judges said about them, I don't even know their names. Then again, I won't scour youtube for performance videos of all the contestants, that'd be a bit too much effort for me.

I totally get not having time to catch up, if you have lots of content planned up, these episodes are loooong. I would advise watching episode 5 on 1.5x speed (its 1st elimination episode) because it has so much unnecessary downtime. And definitely avoid twitter and such for spoilers haha! Its common for idols/trainees to be monitoring their content, whether its mv or variety show. Makes them more aware how they appear on camera and what to fix for next time. Ofc reaction shots are a great content by itself too. Regarding Pentagon and Hui appearing on BP... One has to understand the timeline. When Pentagon appeared on Road to Kingdom, they gained a lot of momentum (maybe not same as G-Idle but still), which was sadly lost due to mandatory military service of 2 years (first of oldest member Jinho and then Huis some time after). 2 years is a massive amount of time in entertainment, its pretty much popularity suicide. And from what snippets we get here from Hui, once he got back, "nobody wanted to work with them" which he probably means broadcast stations. And ofc on top of it is Cube which everyone knows its absolute garbage at taking care and promoting their idols. What is inherently a problem with shows like this are time constraints. When Yujin or someone else got scolded for bad dancing, it was literally 5 mins for them to memorize the piece. Just because you have slower learning curve, it does not mean you are less talented. Idols spend months practicing for their comebacks so learning a song in few minutes or even days is just not realistic, but those kind of produce series will always favor those that can memorize the general picture faster.

Regarding hui, im honestly not sure if he'll make it, alot of the community around the show is kinda split on it bc a lot of people don't think he really suits the group they want, and the way things look with the current higher tankers I kind of agree in a sense? I just want him back in pentagon more than anything.

Full disclosure, I have now also started watching Boys Planet on PD's Patreon (Form of Therapy), so I'm slightly ahead now. I've seen episode 2 and the first hour of episode 3, so this won't be my first watch with you anymore. - On the topic of Cai Bing, she recently posted a dance video and the studio had TRIPLE.S written on the wall. Of course people immediately jumped to conclusions, not realising that this is merely the name of the dance studio :D - Catching up is especially challenging when you have cases like episode 3 being almost 3 hours long. - I hope you'll do your best to avoid spoilers. As will I. For once I wanna get to the finale of one of these shows, really not knowing who wins. I even had the winner of Queendom 2 spoiled by a rogue YT community post from a channel I'm not even subscribed to (thanks, dickhead) and I watched those episodes as soon as they were available on Viki. - I wonder if we're gonna get the Girls Planet thing where at some point the intro only happens an hour into the episode. - So now I'm basically watching a reaction video of a reaction video of BP EP.1 - In This Moment – Roots? I've put it on the watchlist. - Doha's pain in this moment (oh shit I didn't even intend that) is palpable. - Don't get them wrong, Mnet will absolutely still block your ass if you attempt to put anything from them on Youtube. - God, I hope Hanbin is not gonna be a Yurina situation, ranking No. 1 at first and then not even making it into the final lineup. So far, Hanbin is actually my favourite here. - Kum Junhyeon knows how to celebrate - That's so funny, PD also said that that one guy looked like he was in The Boyz. - Jihyo trained for ten years before Twice debuted. - Keita is also an already debuted idol. I haven't heard Ciipher's music yet so I can't comment on it or his skills. - The secret to long legs is milk? Loona's Yeojin will call bullshit on that. She drank all the milk she could and is still stuck at 149 cm. - I feel like they just picked the wrong song. If they had gone for something in a lower key, they wouldn't have struggled so much in the vocal department. Reveal does go quite high. - Oh my. - I mean... just look at Jiwoong. If I could, I would. - Yes, Max Changmin is from TVXQ. They're a duo now but Mirotic is probably their most legendary song from back when they still had five members. - OnlyOneOf is very high on my list of groups I still need to check out. There's just so many! - Takuto acts all cute and then he hits you with a fucking backflip. - Yeah, Takuto should have gotten at least one star. - Nice one, Hongjoong would be proud. - Ok, so about Hui. Seems like a classic case of Cube fucking things up for their artists. I can understand why he joined Boys Planet. - Yes, I saw Pentagon in Paris just a month ago. Only, they were down from nine to only five members present there. Hui was (and still is) obviously busy with Boys Planet, Jinho is doing another show called Phantom Singer iirc, Yanan is still in China and Hongseok is currently on a mental health break from his military service. All of that probably also contributed to things feeling different for Hui. - Woonggi from TO1 being here is sadly ironic because TO1 was also formed on a survival show. - People just need to experience Pentagon live. Then they will understand how truly amazing they are. I've seen them twice already and I might go for round 3 in June. I originally didn't want to go to Kpop Flex again (last year was horrendous) but they just announced Kep1er and that might be my only ever chance to see them. - In conclusion: fuck Cube. - THE MOTHERFUCKING MAIN VOCAL HUI OF PENTAGON - Of course he did the arrangement himself. Did anyone expect anything else? - I think they actually pointed out Matthew's resemblance to Xiumin in the first episode. - If Hui wins, he's gonna be out of Pentagon for even longer. That's what happened with Hwang Minhyun. He came into Produce 101 S2 as a member of NU'EST, won and then promoted with Wanna One for two and a half years while the rest of his original group continued without him during that time. - Somewhat relevant, I finally did an MBTI test. Came out as INTP-T. Logician. And reading some of the descriptions of that type, it seems pretty accurate. - Everyone's going to sleep, meanwhile there's that one fucker going off to My Bag. - I mean, you can't say that Takuto isn't taking every opportunity to test himself and try and improve. - This probably not any more harsh than what goes on at every company during their monthly trainee evaluations. We just get to see it here. - This is what I like about these shows. The judges aren't just here to judge, they're actively helping the contestants to get better. - Well except for Doha apparently. - Man, the energy between Back Kooyoung and Choi Youngjoon is so different. And tbh, I'd much rather be in Youngjoon's class. - At this point, I want both Matthew and Hanbin in the final lineup. Gunwook too. Those three are my favourites right now. - Kpop does that to you. I wanna learn how to dance too. I want to participate in those random dances that always happen before concerts and what not. - Boys Planet is Haruto's second survival show, he was also on Loud in 2021. He's really serious about wanting to be an idol. - Let's be real, this first guy didn't just make some mistakes, he fully gave up on the choreo. - Is it bad to say that I actually find this somewhat entertaining? - Yeah that's bullshit, Mingyu should've gotten one star at least. - But Doha unfortunately messed up too much to gain any stars. - YEE let's go Takuto! - Damn Cong, just levelling up two stars. - HANBIIIN! - Hui just continues to impress and inspire me. This is the man that produced Wanna One's debut song. Now he's a contestant on basically the same show a few seasons later and he goes about it with such humility. He's here to learn and I think that this show will benefit him a lot, even if he doesn't win. In fact, I kind of don't want him to win. I want him to take everything he learns here, bring it back to Pentagon and catapult them into the stratosphere alongside (G)I-DLE, where they belong! - Forgetting lyrics is about the worst thing that can happen here. Argh. - Form of Therapy called this the producer's curse. Hui is so used to creating his own music that he finds it difficult to completely stick to someone else's composition. Instead he follows his instincts and creates new harmonies that feel more natural to him. For Hui to debut is quite small as the fandom is in two and he gets quite a lot of hate from the bp fandom from what I have seen on TikTok and twitter+ evil editing from mnet which minimizes his opportunities to debut. Something is going on I CUBE as hui, jinho and yanan are in or going to be in survival shows this year, that's 3 from pentagon.

It’s very possible this could be Hui’s last olive branch as an idol. Pentagon has been under the threat of disbanding for years, as there were the issues with Dawn, their lack of large popularity despite their talent, and then enlistments and other obligations with CUBE not supporting them at all. Really, the Pentagon boys do more to promote Pentagon on their own than the company does, through online music covers, competition show participation, and Hui writing and producing for practically everyone and their mother. They hoped that RTK would give them a big boost in fans and airtime, but Jinho went to the military and was followed by Hui about a year later. Pentagon only had one comeback in the time Hui was in the military and a subunit comeback. They basically stagnated without him, even when Jinho came back. Now he came back and as a last ditch effort has joined this show, but things aren’t looking good as Pentagon is supposed to be under contract renewal this year.
