For a second there I turned into the Undertaker with the eye roll that I did when MNET faked me out 🤣

the big change with GP 999 compared to produce 101and 48 is that during the elimination phase of the previous show the idols were judged individually. they are now judged by cells which is a bit unfair. because talented girls were eliminated very early. but from the point of view of groups and ethnicity. MNET judged it more interesting and fairer for Japanese and Chinese idols. because the Japanese idol training system is cooler and less demanding than the Korean system. neither can it be said that the show "favors Korean idols".

fabrice maire

no, the realization of MNET is not made to be "cruel" but to give suspense. in the west people just want to know the winners in this kind of show. we in korean are as eager to know who will "win" as we are to know who will "get saved" at the last moment it's not cruel it builds suspense and empathy for the girls who are on the razor's edge .

fabrice maire

yes you notice that usualy on TV not only with idols but with woman in general the shows have towels or blankets to cover the legs of the artists when they have light clothes or short skirts. this is part of the very strict measures of the censors in Korean TV. But they all wear the same very comfortable uniform with shorts so there is no danger of a dress accident. for that our TV is very correct.

fabrice maire

all survival shows of this caliber have "awards" it's not negative at all. it's more awards that the girls make among themselves. the staff of the show have lots of recordings between the girls and suddenly, depending on the topic the girls talk about the most, they create awards (who is the most beautiful, who is the nicest, who is the most charismatic, who is the one who eats the most, or who changes the most with or without makeup). it's just awards for fun.

fabrice maire

YES I admit that at the time I did not understand why Bahiyyih had been chosen in the line up of KEP1ER. she has so little screen time and so little cult performance that many people did not understand why she was among the winners when girls like YURINA MYAH, CAI BIN, SU RU QI, FU YA NING and many others seemed more popular and had better performance.

fabrice maire

I understand that for the unaccustomed an episode based solely on eliminations and a ranking can be strange. but this kind of show is of another caliber than KINGDOM the scale is bigger there are 99 participants. and don't forget that during the 3 months of the broadcast of the show, we could see the girls evolving daily. every day I watched the girls evolved on a dedicated channel. the auditions and evaluations of the week could be followed. so many people followed their favorite girls every day like in a big brother show in the USA. it is for this reason that the episode of eliminations are so long MNET builds this anxiety or this hope it is not necessarily negative. from the point of view of the girls yes they are anxious their career can be decided here. but from the point of view of a fan it's pationnant to look especially when you don't already know the winners. for you DG indeed this kind of episode has less impact than for us at the time. - The girl you liked from The Eve (although her part was short) is Su-yeon. She is a part of Billlie now. Her stage name is now Sheon, probably because there already is a Su-hyeon in that group. - Yeah, BVNDIT sadly disbanded. Although it sucks it unfortunately isn't uncommon. This 48sec video lists all the girl groups that have disbanded this year: https://twitter.com/nugupromoter/status/1591477190318821377?t=0itm6FA6L1cBdf_MvKrfMw&s=19 GIRLKIND (2018) ICE (2015) RHEA (2021) HINT (2017) HOT ISSUE (2021) FAINIT (2022) QODES (2021) BLING BLING (2020) LUNARSOLAR (2020) ARIAZ (2019) HOLICS (2016) BVNDIT (2019) G-REYISH (2017) CHECKMATE (2020) (coed) WEGIRLS (2018) BLUE FOX (2018) LAONZENA (2021) - To gift your roommate a punching bag with your face on it is hilarious, and makes you wonder 😀 - Suddenly all the contestants look like they are fluent in Korean... It blows my mind actually. - Bahiyyih. To help with all the pronounciations it's best to cut it up into syllables. In this case I don't know where they got this romanization, but they pronouce it as: Ba-hi-e (when fast it becomes Ba-hi-ye). You already got it at the end of the video. - Wen Zhe. Talking about an emotional rollercoaster. Place first in fashion event. Then not having your cell called out for saving for the longest time, depleting all hope. Then being nominated for most popular member, to hear that you juuuuust didn't get the trophy. Then finally get called out as candidate for 17th. Then hearing you juuuuuust didn't make it ..... on your friggin birthday. And then getting saved by the Planet Pass. - Su Rui Qi. Soo Rooee Chee. "The Q turns into a ch?" Yes 😅 - The anticipation / suspense they (try to) create for the order of top 4 while it effectively doesn't matter at all is ... weird. - Also must have been awkward to have to give a speech when you are a candidate for top 2, and then ANOTHER a few minutes later when you know your final position. "How do you feel?" "And how do you feel now?" - Have my thoughts changed? Not yet. At this point in the series I didn't feel we lost someone mayor, and I still don't. This of course can be a direct result of Mnet not giving them screen time. Like I said in the previous episode I'm rewatching this with you with more focus on Jiyoon this time, just to see what tricks Mnet are playing. She was Top 9, then SLAYED that The Eve performance, and now dropped out of Top 9. She actually went down to number 15 of K-group. So that's position 43-45 overall... of the 54 remaining. For me this is a direct result of the Mnet tricks/manipulation I pointed out last episode.

It makes me sad seeing BVNDIT and HOT ISSUE disband, they both had huge potential, BVNDIT songs were sooooo good...

crispy chicken

Yeah. To be fair, from that list I only know a few songs by BVNDIT, HOT ISSUE, LUNARSOLAR and CHECKMATE. The other groups I haven't even heard of, and I'm sure that goes for most ppl. It must have been a very rough life for these groups: work your butt off, not getting paid, not getting recognized... I hope DG will at least react to BVNDIT "Dumb" one day cause it's a bop. And maybe "Venom".

Gonna try watching this whilst on a train to see Dreamcatcher tomorrow (yes I am fully aware that I am making you very jealous right now 😜) - Oh you KNOW they're gonna milk it. - Kim Suyeon! She's great. But in the end I'm honestly glad she didn't make it into Kep1er and was added to Billlie instead. She is absolutely shining there! - Look at Mnet, not even providing cleaning staff and making the girls clean up themselves 🧐 - Rick Astley. I checked out some of his more recent music. That man still has a gorgeous voice. - I am the one who constantly brought up Bvndit, being quite a big fan of theirs. Yes, their disbandment was announced a few days ago. I am so mad. They were amazing and MNH Entertainment completely wasted their potential. First a hiatus of two years after their Jungle comeback, then it takes them eight fucking months to capitalize on Seungeun's appearance on GP999. So by the time Venom is finally released, most people would have forgotten about her and now this. I really hope Chungha gets out of that company as soon as possible and signs somewhere she can really unfold her potential. Maybe join Sunmi at Abyss. - On Chinese pronounciation, in Pinyin, the Q stands for a sort of "ch" sound. Ruiqi would be pronounced somewhere in the ballpark of "Rui-chee". - Hey, we're still less than 15 min into the episode before the intro was played. It gets more ridiculous. Well, I guess German train wifi is not good enough to actually watch videos, so here I am now, several days later. I saw Dreamcatcher in the front row and holy fuck. That's all I'm gonna say for now. - A 75 member gg? So a Jpop group? AKB48 does have 84 active members at the moment. - A disturbing thought I once had when I first watched this show shortly after Squid Game: what if they took the term "Survival" show way too literal? - Building anxiety is Mnet's entire business model. - Of course. Drag out the eliminations but rush through the part of the episode that's actually fun. - uhh wtf is that that is horrifying - It's a bit Hunger Games, isn't it? Shower them in luxury a day before the killing starts. - Also, we are back at Lotte World yet again. - I wonder how smooth that coaster actually is, considering it was built by Vekoma in 1989. Those old Vekomas have a bit of a reputation. - Just took a look at Superland on rcdb. Seems like you only got a family coaster and a Vekoma SLC there. My condolences 💀 - It's not magnetic forces, it's g-force. I don't know what those do to a pacemaker, maybe it would even be fine but the park operators probably don't want to risk it. There was a case on a coaster near me, Black Mamba at Phantasialand, where an elderly man suffered a heart attack on the ride and died. Roller coasters do intense things to your body. And in your case it would have been an SLC so in addition to the gs, it also beats you up. - Yes, get on the Fu Yaning hype train! - Why does it not make sense? Announcing results in an ascending order like this is pretty common and normal. And they do save the last surviving cell for the end to create more tension. - WE WILL WORK HARDER. - On Jeong Jiyoon, she recently made her debut in Ichillin's last comeback and she's so damn good there. Really happy they added her. - DG, get your head out of the gutter - And that's why Chen Hsin Wei installed those curtains around her bed. I wouldn't want a camera on me while I'm sleeping either. - Almost looks like Wang Ya Le is happy that she DIDN'T win the makeup transformation award 😅 - Dayeon about to assault a mf - What a fucking roller coaster ride for Wen Zhe - Yeah, your assumptions about You Dayeon make sense. Ultimately we'll never know the full reasons but I see it the same way as you. - I did warn you this was gonna be a long one. - I started it and I will not stop now. - Like I said, the Q sounding like that is a Chinese thing. When Pinyin was developed in the 50s, CH was taken up by first a similar but different consonant sound. But they still needed a letter to represent the consonant and Q was the only one left that still sort of made sense. Chinese has more consonants than the Latin alphabet can provide, including sounds that straight up do not exist in European languages. You have to make some compromises. - For a result that ultimately doesn't really matter, they sure drag it out a lot. - Still, GO YURINAAA - Chaehyun, Yeseo, Cai Bing, Su Ruiqi, Mashiro, Yujin, Hikaru, Xiaoting and Yurina. 6/9 Kep1er members and a lineup I would also be very happy with if it were final. - Cells are now abolished, every girl has to stand on her own merits. It was way too fucking long is what I thought about it. Even more so on a rewatch. Seeing as I saw Dreamcatcher on Monday and will see them again tomorrow, I am having the opposite of a peaceful week 🤠

In lieu of song performances, this week I want to talk a bit about all the eliminated contestants and what they're up to. Ordered by ascending cell ranks: #33 C: Ho Szeching is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/s.zeehoo/ K: Cho Haeun entered the show as a trainee from WakeOne Entertainment (they also manage Kep1er). Not much is known about her activities after the show but it is believed she is still under WakeOne. J: Kanno Miyu's status is unknown. #32 C: Lin Chenhan has an Instagram but hasn't posted there in half a year: https://www.instagram.com/linchenhan_mm/ K: Han Dana signed with Beats Entertainment in December and is currently active on her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/all_of_dana/ J: Kitajima Yuna has an Instagram but hasn't posted since the show ended: https://www.instagram.com/yuna_kitajima/ #31 C: Lin Shuyun is part of a dance team and also active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shuuuyun_1025/ K: Kim Yubin is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/5223_you/ J: Nakamura Kyara is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aloeswood_/ #30 C: Liu Yuhan is apparently active on Weibo but I can't go on that site without a VPN or something so I'm not gonna bother. Not much else is known about her. K: Choi Hyerin left MNH Entertainment (the company that just disbanded Bvndit) and signed with J Win Entertainment. She has an Instagram but has not posted there since joining the new agency: https://www.instagram.com/dear_rin___/ J: Aratake Rinka is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rinkaisme/ #29 C: Chang Ching debuted in the new girl group ILY:1 under the stage name Rona. This is their debut MV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09IEGfVoaKs K: Ryu Sion is part of Bebez, an upcoming girl group under BlockBerry Creative (Loona's company). We don't know when they'll debut but here's the Instagram if you're interested: https://www.instagram.com/blockberry_bebez/ J: Terasaki Hina is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hina_official1229/. She also recently started a Youtube channel where she uploaded a cover of Honda by Japanese singer Friday Night Plans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OK5oT5d7sA #28 C: Wang Qiuru is a member of SNH48, a 72-member Chinese sister group of AKB48. If you want to know about the insanity that is AKB48 and all of its offshoots, this video gives a pretty good overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF1nPhMFcto K: Suh Jimin is still a trainee at WakeOne, just like Cho Haeun. J: Ito Miyu is part of a new girl group called Limelight under the stage name MiU (looks an awful lot like the name of a certain member of Dreamcatcher, don't you think?) The group will have no limit on the number of members and is set to debut in January. However, the current three members have already released a pre-debut EP and all four songs have gotten videos. Full MVs for the two title tracks Starlight (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56R-ZPP7Us4) and Eye to Eye (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8LXeI5S8Cs) and performance videos for Paradise (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrgNlZn0s94) and Cha Cha (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MVNudoY5D0). All four songs are great but Eye to Eye and Paradise are especially amazing! #27 C: Ciu Wenmeixiu recently competed in a Chinese dance show called Great Dance Crew. K: Lee Rayeon is the main vocalist of Fanatics, a girl group that has been pretty much completely abandoned by their company. Their last comeback was two and a half years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10fv5Do3McY Nobody knows what's next (or if there is going to be anything „next“) but perhaps it would be better for them to disband so that the members can pursue their goals elsewhere. Searchingforelris recently made a really good video about the messy situation that Fanatics is in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07vt5BVXEhk. Rayeon is also not the only Fanatics member to join GP999, her group mates Doah and Chiayi are still in the competition. And lastly, this is Rayeon's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ravvexnle/ J: Oki Fuka is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/okifuka_official/ #26 C: Gu Yizhou also competed on Great Dance Crew and she's active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/guyizhou0_0/ K: Lee Yunji also debuted ILY:1 under the stage name Ara, alongside Chang Ching/Rona. In fact, among the six members of ILY:1 there are only two that aren't from GP999. And one of those two auditioned for the show but didn't make it. Only one member with no affiliation to this show whatsoever. Two members of ILY:1 are still in the competition btw. J: Murakami Yume is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/m_yume926/ #25 C: Liu Shiqi's status is unknown. K: Kim Yeeun apparently left her company after the show and is now active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kim_yeeun_1019/ J: Ikema Ruan survived through Planet Pass. #24 C: Poon Wingchi is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/y.oungjii/ K: Lee Sunwoo is set to debut with a new group called Evermore Muse but they haven't posted anything on Instagram since July, so whether or not that will actually happen is up in the air: https://www.instagram.com/evermore_audition/ J: Hiyajo Nagomi is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nago_mi_753/ #23 C: Liang Qiao is the twin that you mentioned had amazing growth but she was eliminated first. She is a member GNZ48 along with her sister, though they are in two different teams. She also has a joint Instagram with her sister: https://www.instagram.com/dxq_joess/ K: Joung Min is set to debut in Bebez alongside Ryu Sion. J: Hayashi Fuko's status is unknown. #22 C: Chien Tzuling is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tttzuling/ K: Sim Seungeun was (hurts that I have to use the past tense) a member of BVNDIT. No idea what she's up to now but I suppose we'll find out via her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/s_seung_eun/. The members actually opened up their accounts about a month before disbandment was announced which just goes to show that individual Insta accounts are usually not a good sign. Sigh. Anyway, if you want to get into Bvndit (and trust me, you want to get into Bvndit), I recommend Jungle. Most people would probably tell you to check out their last comeback Venom and that is an incredible song, SOTY contender for me certainly. However, Jungle is just as amazing and it really highlights all of their unique deep voices: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQJgoA96fUY J: Ando Rinka debuted in a new Japanese group called Veil. This is their debut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDrGQ253KEk. She also still has her own Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rinka_ando/ #21 C: Xia Yan is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/im_xiayan_/ and one source claimed that she was preparing for a solo album to release back in July but I couldn't find any of her music. K: Lee Yeongyung is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/im_yeonkyong/ J: Inaba Vivienne is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/viviennemiyabi/ #20 C: Ma Yuling is a member of SNH48 alongside Wang Qiuru and also has an Insta though she hasn't posted since January: https://www.instagram.com/mylllllll/ K: Kim Hyerim survived through Planet Pass. J: Okuma Sumomo is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sumomo_bear6/ #19 C: Xu Ruowei is currently a trainee under Yue Hua Entertainment (Everglow's company) and is also active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hiidalun/ K: You Dayeon used to be a member of Lipbubble but left in 2019. This year she competed on the 11th season of Show Me The Money but was eliminated in the first round. Her Insta: https://www.instagram.com/dayeon_you/. She also posts vocal and dance covers on her Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMaC1ltkmU3KSNxVlaaciRw J: Kamikura Rei is active on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rei__kamikura/ #18 C: Wen Zhe survived through Planet Pass. K: Kim Sein's status is unknown. She has an Instagram but currently no public posts on there: https://www.instagram.com/fxullmoon/ J: Ozaki Momoko was a backup dancer for Babymetal but her current status is unkown.

It's Magnetic Fields, not forces, my bad. Most of the rides have strong magnetic fields, so it's not even g-force. Though the g-force would be a 2nd reason why I couldn't go on a ride because I have a mechanical Valve in my heart, so the loss of gravity would most likely fuck me up, and the magnetic fields may destroy the pacemaker and ruin my heartbeat, and then the g-force might destroy my valve, yay! PS - Totally not paying attention to you seeing DC twice, I am so not jealous...

Marcel Wannieck

Sorry for getting a bit nerdy and technical here but I don't know where the coasters at the park you mentioned would have magnetic fields? More modern roller coasters do have magnetic brakes and modern launch coasters use very strong electromagnets to launch the train to top speed. But the big coaster at your park is a Vekoma SLC. It uses a regular chain lift and mechanical friction brakes. Maybe there is something highly technical that I still don't know about coasters that involve magnetic fields that eminate from something else? Bumper cars, sure I can definitely see where the magnetic field comes from. Either way, that really sucks and I'm sorry to hear that. Hehe, maybe you wouldn't be as jealous if you knew how much my wallet had to suffer for this. I'm actually too scared to put the numbers together myself :D Also, I was never one to buy albums or any other kinds of merch. Well, guess who's now a proud owner of the longest of all lightsticks? I'm totally not in a cult.

Marcel Wannieck

I have the week off bc Dreamcatcher is on my continent :D It also helps that the fine people over at kprofiles.com did the hard work of compiling all the info. All I did was steal it from there :P

Daniel Goland

Interesting, almost all of the activities at the park have health warnings which include heart-related stuff, I didn't even get to the big coaster honestly. I just saw the signs on most of the rides and did a quick google search and it said it's no Bueno to go with a pacemaker, I didn't dive too deep into it, just got slightly depressed and left an hour later hehe. Oh trust me, still jealous, YOLO (oh I can't believe I used that, it's so cringe haha)

Marcel Wannieck

Yeah, pretty much all rides have a warning to not ride if you have any health problems. Be it heart related or something else. And the flatrides probably use electric motors so that's where the magnetic fields could come from. And there are coasters I've ridden that are so intense, they brought me to the brink of a blackout with how much blood the g-forces pulled away from my head. I don't want to find out what those would do to someone like you. Just look at this insane shit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbCQCqTIzFo
