That $15,000 Swiss watch cost about $80 to make. For real. Add in truckloads of hype, middlemen each with their own markups, a rip off "luxury pricing" scheme, lots of advertising, payment to celebrities and you end up with $15K (or more) watch (https://parnis.org/pages/our-mission). It is indefensible and yet there's plenty of watch reviewers, even here in YT, that defend this pricing and advocate you "just save up" for that special watch you have you your "eye on." Here we'll look at a favorite of mine: the classic Big Pilot Fleiger watches. Born in WW II wartime, used on both sides, these have the classic stretched kite hands with perfect legibility, onion crown, Type A and B dial markings, and timeless appearance. Include accurate, durable auto movements, exhibition casebacks, and even gold or TiNI coated rotors and mechanisms. All for $80.
