The first version of the 0.5 cycle is now available for patrons!


Our aim with this cycle is to polish the code and ramp up the visual fidelity, meanwhile we’re paving the way for custom characters. Among the improvements in visual fidelity is our new very own fur shader, so far only available for Wolf (you need to enable it in the graphics settings). Also, we have updated Unity to a newer version, which allows us to use new features such as SMAA (state of the art Anti-Aliasing solution) and SSRR (Screen Space Realtime Reflections). They look great in the updated ocean house that’s also included in this build.


Another benefit with this new Unity version is support for Virtual Reality. So if you’ve got a device, try it out and report back your experiences! We must warn you though that since we don’t have a VR device ourselves, we have no idea how or even if it’s working. All we have done is try to prepare the project according to the guidelines in the Unity docs. So please, do give feedback if you actually have a device yourself.


Unfortunately, there seems to be some issues with this version of Unity. We haven’t been able to get ambient lighting to work properly for dynamic items (such as characters or movable objects). So some items will look really weird and out of place. There’s not much we can do about it as this issue has to do with Unity itself. Hopefully this will be fixed in future builds.

Nice! Question though, if you spawn many characters at once, does that glitch the game? After I spawned a few, the next animation pose was just all of them fused together, spinning their heads. It was creepy 😱

Have to update that going to 5 characters does not work and doesn't even let the game test the animation. (Test button gets locked up) Adding more characters to scenes makes the other characters go crazy like their heads spinning. (More then 5) Tested with lower graphics settings still did the same thing. I have a mega computer so it still runs fine.

The VR functionality doesn't seem to work for me. About half the time, it hangs at 99% loading of a stage, whether it's at the very beginning (empty stage) or if I get the initial stage to load and try to use a pose that switches to a different stage. Loading a pose will instantly cause a hang once the actors are in place. On an unrelated note, the program seems to use some sort of resolution upscaling when I'm using the Rift (DK2). Both in the Rift itself and the mirrored window on my monitor, I get a grainy, low-res image while the device is active. If I start the program without the Rift, the resolution appears to be as selected in the menu.

Thank you so much for the report. If you disable everything in Menu &gt; Graphics, and then try to run it with the rift, does that change anything?

Does it change anything if you go to Menu &gt; Graphics and disable Anti Aliasing and SSRR (Screen Space Realtime Reflections)?

The VR stops every time you load an animation. you can load up a scene to edit fine. look around in VR fine, but as soon as you press test to cycle animation you get one second of animation and game freezes. Everything works in vr until I play a animation. looks so good keep up the progress you'll get there with the VR. Thanks for implementing it even without a dev kit to test out yourselves.

Well,there is something wrong,whenever I add to 4 characters, there is only 1 character stay in the place,and other just disappear,and nothing I can do next,all the buttons are malfunction,and the only functional thing is quit. Please check!

There is a sort of transparency problem when fur is activated on POV mode. Besides that, everything is good!

There is an issue. When you release this note of enable 8 character in the interaction, somehow the game crashes when I add 5 characters. I can still move the camera but I can't move the character or click the buttons.

Hey guys, I did some testing of the VR implementation. I'm getting the same crash that everyone else is getting. I've tried loading several scenes, both local and from the scene browser. I've also tried adjusting the graphics setting at launch (fastest) as well as turning all GFX settings off. The crash persists :( That bit aside, there were a couple small notes I made while in edit mode. The camera does not rotate from the POV, it seems to orbit a point several feet ahead of the player. I also think that a look/aim for maneuvering the camera would be fantastic. Finally, there was an odd problem in edit mode where the character rig rendered way off, and it would change position as I turned my head about. That's all I've got, great work on the update ^w^
