I got a lot of pushback against pausing last month so I want to be as upfront as possible here. Last month some dissent against the pause was reasonable since I did at least make progress but this month is different. I bought a Steam Deck so I've been on a massive game playing spree and straight up do not deserve your money this month. When the novelty of my Deck starts wearing off, I'll be able to be productive again but for now I still like playing games more than making them. My PC backlog has been ballooning over the last few years and I finally have a chance to cut it down a bit. With any luck the games I'm currently playing will turn into content of some kind but for now I'm just trying to enjoy them. I never record my first playthrough or do anything other than play them like you would. Basically, I didn't put in the hours this month so I'm not getting paid, same as anyone else.

Apologies if this comes across as harsh, I just want to make sure you all have a realistic picture of what I'm doing. I'm incredibly grateful that you're all so eager and kind but this month's pause is undeniably justified so let's set it aside for now and pick it back up next time. Pledges will definitely be active next month and I'll be sure to keep you informed about how things are going. Thanks for reading and thanks for sticking around.

By the way, if you have any suggestions for PC games, now would be a great time to let me know. I have a huge list to tackle already but I'm always interested in finding overlooked games, especially ones with a strong identity like Rain World or Hyper Demon or whatever. I can't make any promises about what I'll play so don't get your hopes up but maybe other patrons will find some value in them as well. If anything comes to mind, feel free to share.

Hey Matt. I highly recommend the game 2Dark. It's a stealth horror game made by the creator of the original Alone in the Dark. I found the game to be surprisingly great, it has a bit of a learning curve and the first level was a bit weak, but the game overall is a great experience. I think playing with a controller is more comfortable for this game than mouse and keyboard so it'll be a good fit for the steam deck.

Curious if you have any thoughts on Solar Ash?

I recommend Vernal Edge. It has an interesting take on a lock on attack, plus is a 2D action game so given your recent context sensitivtity video I think you would get a lot out of it. (Ignore below if you don't want to know about the lock on mechanic) Basically you tag enemies using an attack that only goes in cardinal directions, once the enemy is tagged then you can use an attack that hones the player character in on the enemy. This to me seems to solve the "fuzzyness" you described in your video regarding lock on systems.

The channel lags behind my thoughts on things pretty significantly so I've been thinking about context sensitivity for a long time. When I saw the context sensitive grappling hook in the first trailer it dampened my enthusiasm for it so I still haven't played it yet. I really like movement-based games and it looks good in other ways so I know I should give it a shot but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

That does sound like a nice solution and definitely increases my interest in the game. The Wonderful 101 uses a similar system in case you're not aware, although it's probably messier since it can hit multiple targets and (I think) has a kind of soft-lock of its own. Anyway, it sounds interesting, thanks.
