No action required on your end. Pledges will not be processed for October, they'll resume at the end of November.

I made middling progress this month, mostly on two fronts.

Firstly, I continued making fixes and improvements to existing systems. This includes a nice restructuring of the player and enemy objects under a shared parent. I think I've done this in a flexible way which allows enemies to inherit default behaviours for impulses/collision/animation or override just the parts which they do differently from the default. Most of the other stuff was tiny fixes or improvements which don't amount to much individually. Thankfully my To Do List has changed direction, up until recently it had a horrible tendency of growing any time I worked on it but it's finally shrinking.

Secondly, I worked on implementing various kinds of shaders. This took a lot of learning on my end which slowed me down considerably. Worse yet, none of the effects actually look all that good because they haven't been polished enough. I basically took each one far enough to be sure I understood it, then moved on to the next one which means I now have a much better understanding of GLSL but no cool visuals to show you. I'm not even sure to what extent Betelgeuse will use shaders but I figured it was worth having those tools at my disposal.

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned I'm not being paid to learn and I don't have a blog or audio log prepared so no pledges this month.

As always I'm grateful for the support and I hope you'll join me again next month instead.

You’re welcome to the pledge to do shaders if you need to. But it’s appreciated, thank you
