HOWDY Y'ALL.

How have you been? I've been so crazy drained these last couple weeks between streaming, working on the cookbook video and also dealing with work-work. Instead of blabbing about voice acting, I thought I'd just ramble about my life in order to impart some reminders to y'all.

I have a coworker who just got promoted to a high-level executive position (pretty much the VP of the entire company now). My first instinct was to feel really jealous because we're around the same age and she started at the company much later than I did, but then I kind of pulled myself back and reminded myself...I don't give a crap about my company. I have kind of a subsistence mentality with my work life because I just don't have it in me to play office politics in order to move higher. And honestly, that's perfectly fine with me. I don't define my worth as a person based on how "productive" I am according to corporate America.

All that to say: I know what's important to me in my life. And I'd rather be where I am at my company and have the current work-life balance that it affords me than be at a higher level and have my job be my entire life. As much as I value hard work, I absolutely loathe the 'cult of work' mentality that society tries to make you feel undervalued for not adopting. Please always remember that you are more than your performance at your jobs.
