Hey everyone,

Today, I wanted to show you a bit around the next level, starting with what will be a central and a rest place, the cafeteria.

The idea behind this part of the level, is that you'll pass near or through it multiple time during your adventure. It will be a safe place, because at the time of your visit it's closed and no staff is around. This mean you're free to go around and steal some food if you need to replenish!


I really like this big and luminous area,filled with colorful stuff. I still need to add some details, of course, but the idea is that you feel safe within the area. It's a rest place, with some easter eggs and little stuff to find if you're curious.

The main challenge is to still make sure you feel like it's still an hospital (something that will get even harder in some others areas) while still providing variety. I can't just go and make the entire level white corridor filled with hospital stuff. So,I tried to imagine what you would find in an hospital, and every single one would need a cafetaria for the staff, right?


Even though this door seems a bit out of place...I wonder what's behind? Let's find out a next time !

As always, I'm curious about your input. What do you think about it? Should a themed level always match closely the theme, or should the game feel and variety prevail? Don't hesitate to let me know !

to me making it fun to play and make sense as a Game matters way more. I like my things to be interactive. things to clue you in on what sorta mechanics are needed or hints what could be needed to do 1st. things that let you explore this interwoven world you make. also is ladder climbing a thing to be done?

cafeteria looks great. i think variety in any one given area is great.

I could do ladder climbing but this need coding work and animation so I'll do it only if this fit well in a level or world building need.

Well I noticed you got a Lotta ladders and you could use the hight of the ladders to add another layer to explore. I was expecting such a thing for sewers or power plant.

The sewers are indeed a future area. Indded maybe ladders would be required at this stage.

does the mysterious man with the suitcase have more than the maturity pills. i cant seem to find any other toys for him

Also think about it like this! you can use powerups like that to be used as keys for progression. though in my head for some reason I see her having lost abilitlys she shoulda known the whole time from some form of regression but powerups allow for selective rembering.

For now he doesn't have any other items to sell and buy but some will be added pretty soon.
