Hey everyone,

It's building time ! Theses last few days, I did about 1/4 of the basic structure of the level 02. And it's really massive, already about the size of the mansion.

It's a good occasion to rant a bit about my design philosophy. Up until now, I was mostly building interior without windows (because obviously the map is located elsewhere as the overworld), and sometimes without even a ceiling. This to achieve two main goals:

  • Speedup design and building process
  • Ease out the amount of thing to load at once

However, while designing the mansion, and now the hospital, I think I can do better than that. From a technical standpoint, the game should now be able to handle bigger levels. And while it's true that speed is important, I think having a level more implemented in the world feel better in term of immersion.

So, for the hospital, I decided to try out a new method. Basicaly, I will make a copy of the city, and use it as a background, so I will be able to make big windows and scenery far less boring than a plain wall. It will also help the level theme, seeing the outside as you'll be stuck for a while inside.

Of course, this come with a lot of shortcoming : I have to push a little bit more work into also building the background. What do you think about it? Do you feel that will help immersion?

That's it for the game design rant. Now let's show something a bit funnier.

I also took a little time to make an hoodie, that will be available with multiple colors at the clothes shop.

I did not use exactly the same model between the two gender, so the boy one is a little more baggier.

The next piece of clothes will be more exciting : I'm working on a onesie. It's a bit harder to get right than the other clothes, and I'm a bit torn between making it a top or a pants. Maybe a special slot item?

That's it for now, see you next time !
