Hey everyone,

I uploaded the release 0.2.0 on itch at the usual link ( https://abdlsparrow.itch.io/the-pacifier-project-minor-releases/patreon-access ). So like every release, I catched a lot of bugs but I'm staying in hypercare the next few days to be ready to correct any game-breaking bug that arise.

On that subject, you should try to complete the new part of the mansion in one go. There is a lot of things to track and I didn't make all of theses properly savable so if you save and load you could get soft-locked. I'll fix that as soon as possible.

And on the good news side, I finally corrected the annoying camera behaviour so it should be far smoother now.

So, here's the changelog ! This release is very content-based so it's quite short.

World :

The haunted house is fully open for exploration !

Some places became blocked by crates. If only you could push your way through...

The backrroom in the player's house is now unlockable after getting the relevant item.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Story :

The story can be progressed until the end of the Haunted House.
A side story can be started in the player backroom after ending the haunted house.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GUI :

No relevant change to GUI.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Player :

Your clothes stay soiled after an accident. You will need a washing machine to wash theses and be able to equip it again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Items :

New clothes : PolkaDot Panties and Black TeeShirt.
3 news items added, some relevant to story and side quest.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Technical :
Refactored some code to help keep framerate low.
corrected pushables crates so theses are easier to manage
Corrected the annoying behaviour of the camera on the Y axis
Corrected colliders so players can't sneak easily around some closed part of the world
Adujsted the player catcher so falling through the void should be less frequent

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Know bugs and issues :
Pants mesh can show a bit bugged when clean.
Switching out of a pants or panties make the clothes soiled even if you did not had an accident.
Trying to change hair two times in a row can cause an error
Hairs and colors are not yet saved
Loading from title screen can cause some variable to not be loaded. Just reload again from option menu to fix.
Saving  and loading while playing the adult part of the mansion is not advised  as it can lead to various soft-lock states. Currently under  investigation.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to thank you all again for your support. As this is the first real major release  since the initial one, it will be available on itch for free later this month, as I stated. I'll make a post in the next few days about my next plans, because there's still a lot to do !

Fun build, nice to see the new content, definitely seems like you've improved at making levels. Good job fixing the camera, its a lot less annoying to use now, and the content of the new area is pretty nice. I'm enjoyin' the build. I am going to be a pedant and give you a list of bugs and nitpicks though, but I really do like the new build. So I went through the game on a new save up to the mature route, on my first run, I tried to make sense of the hints, but a few of them were a bit too abstract for me to figure out. So I brute forced my way interacting with everything until I hit the correct solutions. Even doing that I still didn't quite understand why some of them were correct. Like the pressure plate in front of the mirror. I could just be stupid, but yknow, that was my experience. After I gave the Hat Ghost his plushie, used the ghostbusting device on the Boss Ghost and talked to Jason. The door to the exit did not open. At first I assumed it was because I screwed something up by brute forcing it, so I replayed it only hitting the correct solutions and still it didn't let me out. So I assume I am not hitting a flag I need to to activate the exit. I *assume* that flag is a key to the locked room of my house, but I can't find it. Also, one of the pressure plates in the outdoor area of the haunted house turns permanently magenta if stepped on. So there's that. I will say that, since you seem to have intentions to have multiple routes for this game, and that encourages players to replay the game to see alternate content. I would suggest as the game gets longer to add multiple save slots. But for now, I would also say that unlocking the run ability at the beginning of each run gets slightly tedious with how far you have to walk to give the runner girl her bag, I would suggest moving her bag over to that school area, but that's a bit of a nitpick. Also, I didn't notice it before, but yknow the picture of an E button that shows up when somethings interactable? Its not noticeable most of the time. But when its enlarged without the speech bubble background when you're interacting with a transition between areas, you can actually see holes in the picture. Speaking of, the small chat bubble with the button also shows up backwards for some of the chests in the mature route. Also, it seems like the way you handle NPCs reacting to context is that they have dialogue they always say to you, and then context sensitive dialogue immediately afterwards. That's fine, but for NPCs you're explicitely supposed to get something for and return to them with it. It guarantees you're going to be reading redundant dialogue. Again, not a big deal, but yknow. Anyways, there's my criticisms, wanna be clear I did enjoy it, and that this build is a significant improvement, fixing the cameras nice and the new contents fun. Hopefully my feedback is constructive. Also, if I'm wrong about why the exit isn't popping up, I'd appreciate being told what I'm missing, couldn't figure it out.

Getting the needle and scissors does not unlock the clothes store no matter what I do

Anonymous

Correction after fiddling around some can get the store to open after equipping panties then removing them and then talk to the clerk. Only then as store lights go on the screen fades to black and game locks up

ABDLSwallow

Thanks for your review. The save slots are on my todo, gonna talk about it soon. I'm gonna look into the no-exit bug right now,you didn't do anything wrong. It's supposed to pop as soon as you give the plushie.

Anonymous

No matter how many times I talk to the clerk it doesnt recognize I have both the needle and scissors in the inventory. Changing the inventory doesnt make a difference either i.e deleting items or buying items. The only time it "worked" was equipping panties and pants, then removing panties and then talk to him. Pretty strange

Anonymous

After some more tinkering I got the store opened. Had to equip panties, remove panties and equip a ghostly diaper.. How odd

ABDLSwallow

So I found why the exit not popping up. Long story short, if you save and load right after finishing the adult route and giving the plushie, it should pop. I'm gonna fix it so it appear immediately without the need to save and reload.

ABDLSwallow

That's very strange. I'm glad you found a fix but I can't reproduce that behaviour no matter how I try. Having to talk to him twice can make sense because he need to recognize two items and a missing frame can skip one of theses but there's zero link between that system and the equipement system. Look like I'll need to push my search further !

I've been looking for the scissors for so long where about are they?

Orphelia

Any hints for the player backroom key? cant seem to find it anywhere

ABDLSwallow

You can find it both in the adult and the child route. In both case it involve a bit of backtracking and the need to push a crate to access a switch that will open the door to the chest.

Orphelia

Yeah, i stumbled accross it after a while. I had assumed it was inside the haunter house somewhere, so spent majority of the time looking there

Nice work with this build! Thanks for giving us some more content to try. The more mature part is very different from the other side so it adds some good replayablity. A couple suggestions for the new side: 1) Is it possible to make the notes stand out more? Having some visual effect would help, especially if they're just laying on the floor of the basement or something like that. The traps should remain harder to see of course. 2) Sometimes I wasn't sure if I had found the right hint for the puzzle I was looking at since you can read the hints out of order. I think it could help if the character could say something like "What did that note say" and then repeat the hint that goes with whatever you are looking at, if you have found that particular hint. If the character doesn't say anything then you know you need to keep looking for the hint. Or maybe it would be too easy then. 3) The camera does seem to work better, but it's still a bit wonky every now and again. Is it possible to add a key bind to look up/down? Generally everything seems to be working pretty well though and I was able to complete the area without any problems. But I never did find that needle so I'll have to try again at some point.

ABDLSwallow

Thanks for the review, I'm glad you like it ! For you two first suggestion, you're hitting the nail in the head about balance here. SInce I make a focus on exploration and that part is supposed to be harder, I made the choice to not highlight hints and make theses purposely quite vague and cryptic. Your review is quite interesting on that matter, maybe I made it a little too hard? Anyway, I'm all up to input like this to help me balance the game better. For the camera, it's a good idea. I'll look into it.

Hoshioni

save systems totally busted for me none of the event items save. but random inventory does.

ABDLSwallow

Thanks for the information. Could you PM me with what does and what doesn't save so I can analyse if there's a bug? I'm working on the save system right now so if I can catch some bugs it's even better.

Question: where is the player house?

Anonymous

Or the residential area. I've walked all around, and talked to everyone. It's not clear.

ABDLSwallow

If you finished the first part of the game, it's the place you spawn after you fainted.

Anonymous

Thanks for getting back to me. Fainted? I've talked to the crying girl after finding the rattle and pacifier and noteboard. Is there more I have to do? I've been stuck on that for awhile.

ABDLSwallow

Make sure you spoke to every NPC too.Now you just have to find her lost sister, which should be not too far away in a back alley, and you'll be able to continue. On a side note, this "tutorial" questline need rework to make it clearer, I agree with you.
