LMAO I left in a comment on last video "Killua stole my heart almost immediately!" I hope that comment didn't ruin anything x.x

Fun fact: in the 1999 anime and the manga, they showed the full heart and Killua crushed it with his hands. But Killua putting it back on the prisoner's hand was so much disrespect so I think the impact was just as strong. The 2011 series have some censoring because of its early time slot at this point, but don't worry it only applies to the first arc. Also I was laughing when Carlie said early in ep. 10 that Ange is like Leorio because I knew what was going to happen in episode 11 XD

Enjoyed the reaction and thoughts. lmao at the Leorio part, thanks for the smiles and laughs! :)

So the mangaka, Togashi, is all about subverting expectations within the Shonen genre. Yes there are some very definite tropes but I think he uses the tropes to pull the rug out from under you. In another Shonen anime, Ange's prediction about Leorio and the prisoner lady's contest ending in a fight with her totally smacking Leorio down. But for as many epic and awesome fights as there are in this anime, there are just as many things that are solved in completely different ways. Watching this anime you can see so many of the bones of Yu Yu Hakusho. In case you aren't familiar, Yu Yu Hakusho was Togashi's first work. Often considered the flawed masterpiece to his magnum opus in HunterXHunter. So many ideas that started out in Yu Yu Hakusho get fully fleshed out in HunterXHunter. If you're ever looking to react to a classic beloved anime, definitely check out Yu Yu Hakusho.

there is a lot of common sense in this show, Hunter X Hunter is written by one of the legands of the shonen genre, lots of modern shonens you can tell they were directly inspired by HXH, most notably Naruto.

Holy crap First time heard 'paper scissors rock'. I thought it was 'rock paper scissors' at least in all English speaking countries.
