this show and your guy’s reaction to it literally make me so happy

my brothers in christ, we’ve been waiting for this🫡

Maxine

just to clarify for tsukki's bro: he was the ace in middle school, but never got to play as a member of karasuno because there were so many good, and talented, players. so all of high school he was lying to tsukki when he wasn't even on the bench :( also, just to add because you mentioned character payoffs - no matter how soon or later it comes, ~every~ character has a satisfying moment! And i think that's just a testament to how incredible the writing is!!

Just to clarify about Tsukki's story with his brother: Tsukki didn't blame his brother for lying, he actually felt guilty because he thinks it's his huge expect on his brother that made his brother have to lie. Back then Tsukki thinks volleyball is very important and means everything to his brother, so after finding out the truth he changed his mind to "it's just a club" and became calm on everything. I think there's a little translate problem during mid episode 8 and caused this confusion. The part right after the backstory where Tsukki's walking down the hall and having some thoughts saying "It was only a club, but it was everything to my brother", the right translation is actually "It was only a club, but back then I thought it was everything to my brother." I think this part really adds to Tsukki's character, after all he still loves his brother and deep down still idolize him, but he just tried to hold back these feelings (also like for volleyball, he really do love it), and stay calm to avoid being hurt.

The really sad part is that Tsukki's brother is actually a very good player, being the ace of a middle school team and shown when he's able to receive the ball straight into the basketball hoop. The Karasuno roster at that time was just so deep that even someone as skilled and passionate as him was relegated to not even suiting up during games. Tsukki's attitude of "if I don't really invest in it, I don't have to worry about being devastated if it doesn't work out" is pretty common, and a bit relatable. If I tell myself I wasn't that serious about it in the first place, failure has a much smaller impact.

The payoff of Tsukki's ark is one of my favorites in the whole series, looking forward to it

there's a reason tsukii hinata and kageyama always on the art cover.. and you guys will love it when the moment come for Tsukii

PJ

cant wait for season 3!!!!!

RepliCant

Don't know if anyone already told you but Oikawa VA is also Hisoka VA. He's very good doing sassy characters lmao.

Guy's haikyu is one of the anime in which openings are a big part of it as they rile you up even more and get you pumped for the allready hype action. I would like to suggest that you watch/react to each haikyu opening atleast after each season ends (incase you want to avoid spoilers), because if you watch them all together then the earlier ones lose thier shine and become somewhat irrelevant. Thankyou

Bobbe

It's hilarious when Ange randomly brings up Tanaka lmaoo, "What did Tanaka do?" I want more Tanaka moments too bro And Kuroo got MVP?! Hell Yeah! Most reactors don't pay my favorite side characters this much attention so I was hella hyped when Kuroo got it! Also, I'm usually not a fan of "training arcs" but I really enjoy the practice matches in this show, they bring so many great characters together whereas in official matches it's only two teams which limits character interaction. These episodes just feel so wholesome and are really fun to watch 😊 Glad you guys are enjoying them!

Nice! Tsukki and Hinata are both middle blockers and yes the rivalry would seem be more realistic with them tahn Kageyama and Hinata. But yeah there was no indication whatsoever cause Tsukki would always fall back being the “moon” behind the “sun” which I liked in part cause he was acknowldging what Hinata could deliver . I love Kuroo and Bokuto being mentors to him. Oya!

storm (kasey) !

i cant be mad at a tsukki pick for mvp but i actually think i mightve given this last episode to yamaguchi! what he said to tsukki outside really pushed him to go talk to bokuto and the others :')

Meg

Same! I'm ok with Tsukki too but Yamaguchi would have been my first choice.

I think Carlie and Ange need to prepare a lot of tissue boxes on hand for the Tsukki hooked moment. lollll

Stef

Footics!!! I used to call it like that too for the longest time! But fun fact, in Japanese "foot" is "ashi" so it's a reference on the actual sports wear brand "Asics" (it's got a "sh" sound in Japanese). Took me forever to realize

S2 is my fav. season because of how it calls back to S1 moments, expands on them, and how well it connects/pays-off even in future seasons. That flashback scene to S1 was when Tsukki said that while Hinata's rotated to the back, it's his job to keep trouble from happening (block attacks). The way he said it sounds like he's there just as a placeholder or a supporting player for their ultimate decoy. Now that he's more willing to try , as players of the same position, that dormant rivalry has officially begun xD

Tsuki's brother is Akiteru Tsukishima and his VA is one you should recognize, Sakurai Takahiro, aka Geto from JJK, Giyuu from Demon Slayer and Arataka Reigen from Mob Psycho 100.

I can't wait for those lit moments specially in s3

MADHOUSE

You know... I've rewatched this show many times, but I can't believe I never noticed the symbolism in the scenes where Karasuno run up the hills. Nice catch, Ange. I think it depicts the team's will to improve beyond their current capabilities, and evolve into a functioning team with the proper skillsets. To add onto that thought, I love how, similar to the nature of crows, they're observing and picking up skills from all of the different teams they've seen and making them their own weapon, slowly building an arsenal of different moves. While I love all of the seasons of this show, I think S2 takes the cake for me. This season is where I really fell in love with the series.

I actually would have given the MVP to Yamaguchi on that last episode. He confronted Tsukki and reignited something in him.

Not really a spoiler but Kuroo and Bokuto will be crucial to Tsukki’s growth and development. Cool detail is how all three characters represent the night: Kuroo - Black Cat Bokuto - Night Owl Tsukki - Moon In a way, it explains why Tsukki is more drawn to them compared to his relationship with Karasuno. ☺️

I'm loving these reactions... I don't know if it's because there are two of you but the analysis and close predictions are above the norm. Yet, you will still be surprised. Haikyuu writers know how to get you attached to the characters so when your boy or girl does something... oh.. you're going to have a fit, talking smack, to back them up. Yelling and clapping at the screen, like you're at the actual game. This training arc is made to get you like that.

emma

Right!!!! I've watched plenty of reactions in the 6 years that I've been a fan of this show, and I pretty much know what to expect atp (in terms of investment in characters and plot), so watching these reactions was like a breath of fresh air.

On 2x8: I think you will not find many people who disagree that Tsukki'a arc is one of the best god damned arcs in the show. And it's a slooooow burn. So on his brother, there is a limit to how many players are allowed on the bench. Which means his brother wasn't even good enough to make it to the bench. Ouch. I love the Moon imagery this episode. We start with the Moon hidden by the clouds, but then after Yamaguchi talked to him, the clouds leave. And then in the end, the Moon is out during the day, competing with the Sun. Hinata and Tsuki are competitors because they both play the same position. They're both middle blockers. The final scene, everyone was shocked because Tsukki scared the shit out of #4. Remember that before during training he just tooled the ball right off Tsukki's hands with little trouble, but THIS time he knew he couldn't get past him and was forced to change his spike into a feint.

i am so wishing for them to also watch kuruko no basket, its one of my favorites too, hajime no ippo too in term of sports
