UPDATES:

Jan 15 2022

  • 7mm deep holes for heat inserts where possible
  • New roof (just a chamfered edge on the top front)
  • untested RevoVoron hotend mount
  • Extra folder with BMG mount, and 15mm long spacer to convert fan mounting holes from m4 down to m3, do reduce free movements.

Jan 15 2022

  • Found a "bug" in the backplate of the Orbiter 1.5 version, that reduced the size of the nut sliding ramp. New file updated. Sorry about that!
  • If you can't reprint it and must use that bad part, you can put a heat inserts toward the very front of the sliding range (that's what I did, worked great)

Jan 17 2022

  • Added support for stock hotend, updated main body for it so that it wraps around the heatsink very well. And backplate for it. I printed it and it fits like a glove, air fully redirected away from heat block. Unexpected bonus, It can be installed/removed even with everything installed as the two mounting screws are accessible through the front fan opening. Two M3x20 The one drawback is the pneumatic fitting is not easily accessible while installed. But I can make a tool that will slide on top and make it easy, so I'm not to worried.
  • Updated Main body on all hotends, I rebuilt the right fan area cable management route for more space (left the old one in case something is wrong)

Jan 22 2022

  • Instead of square nuts on the backplate for direct drive mount it will now use heat inserts, updated for all currently supported hotends.

Jan 23 2022

  • Added support for Dragonfly BMS (backplate and main body) - Use  M3x16 for mounting it  - I'll make a separate post for trouble shooting, as it's the only hotend where things gets dicey, and hard to get perfectly right without having one myself.
  • Also updated the backplate for the stock ender, which now has a slit to install the hotend without needing to remove the bowden tube (which would otherwise be really annoying in a bowden setup, less so in a direct drive setup). Added that same slit for the DragonFly BMS. And made a second roof/cable cover that cover that slit.
  • I remembered that Crtouch has a shorter body, so I added a second bltcouh/crtouch mount version that mounts 1mm lower.

Jan 25 2022

Thanks to SnarkyGnome for the input!

  • Added a cut out on the right side of the front fan for cable channeling.
  • Added a wall on the left duct
  • Added a separate zip for smaller heat inserts!!! Seems like the size I picked initially (which was based on Voron BOM is harder to source in the US at least, but M3x4(L)x4.6(OD)  is easier to source on amazon, but must be still 4mm in length maximum on the side fans and ADXL, other places might accept 5mm long ones. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BJD3W4X might work, these will definitely work, spec wise, no reviews but it's prime, so should be safe : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08T7M2H4S
  • )
  • E3D V6 now supported (that groove mount is also compatible with Dragon and Dragonfly BMO, but would recommend rigid mounting those anyway)
  • From what I saw E3d V6 clone uses a full M10 pneumatic fitting, too tall for Direct drive, so I added a M10 printable screw that just support the PTFE tube between the hotend and direct drive - Use 2 heat inserts and M3x8 to secure the groove mount second piece.
  • Added a more generic groove mount, with more clearance below the mount at the same height position just in case it's compatible with untested hotends (with similar volume as E3DV6 or Dragon) that uses a groove mount that would otherwise not be compatible with the E3d V6 version
  • Reorganized all the files, now by hotend (within them you will find the direct drive version)
  • Another Bltouch/Crtouch mount, but moved up 1mm (might be useful for the dragonfly BMS 6 fins version)

Jan 26 2022

  • Minor update on the ducts, small bit added to the back to help redirect air forward.
  • Single 5015 duct added, with air channel reaching the left side. Not really meant for this, but does work well if you do want to go that route. Working fan will be on the right side. The split is not 50/50 on purpose, as too much air was going to the right air output, so it's more a 40/60 split, and now is relatively well balanced on the output.

Feb 4 2022

  • TaiChi hotend bowden mount supported (for direct drive just send your request)
  • Updated main body thanks to feedback from isopropoflex - a few thicken area that were troublesome when printed in ABS
  • More update on main body, added a bltouch cable path going behind the left fan
  • slightly tweaked bltouch mount, so that cable can be threaded from under

Feb 8 2022

  • Added Ender3max BMS backplate (thanks to kris stankievech for testing it out) - for other mount just send your requests
  • Updated Bltouch and 12/18mm probe mount to work on ender3max.
  • New main body and TaiChi added to the zip using larger heat inserts

Feb 16 2022

  • New fan spacer for 4010 front fan (spacer.stl)
  • alternative cable cover, that covered everything, similar to the TitanOrbiter. (full roof.stl) - removed there was issues with it. will be reuploaded when fixed

Feb 17 2022

  • As I worked on the volcano, noticed the e3dv6 didn't have enough space for the heatblock. right now a separately uploaded file, until I finish consolidating everything into a single heat insert version that is compatible with both most common diameter (4.5/4.6mm and 5mm)

Feb 19

  • I noticed a very thin wall, nothing worth reprinting, but the fix will break compatibility of old backplate with updated main body. The new backplate however will still work with old main body. So if you can hold off from printing until files are uploaded.
  • large roof doesn't work so don't print it, need to fix a few things with it before it can be used

Feb 20

  • The updated "main body" is NOT backward compatible with previous backplate !!!
  • New backplate is however still compatible with old body
  • Left an "OLD VERSION" zip just in case I missed something, or you need to print an old model.
  • Added all latest tested hotend.
  • model are now "universal" 4.6mm Oouter diameter  and 5mm OD heat inserts will both work well.

Feb 21

  • Had forgotten the BLTouch/CRtouch for volcano height hotend (e3dv6 volcano and Rapido UHF)
  • also in case you find the Crtouch too close to the body has one that is 1mm further away
  • Also added a new Cable cover, a large one that also goes over the side fans. tested and fits perfectly well. Has a little Saturn image on it for fun.

  • Added a bowden top filler, for hotend with integrated BMG in the backplate (Dragonfly BMS, and some groove mounted ones). So if you plan or unsure of doing BMG, the backplate won't look like it missing a huge piece. Made two version one will simple hole and other with a M10 thread for pneumatic fitting, not sure if needed, but it's there

March 1

  • Ender3Max backplate fix for new main body
  • Taichi hotend - dual direct drive backplate
  • Taichi Dual direct drive extruder mounting plate: orbiter 1.5 with sherpa mini
  • Taichi Dual direct drive extruder mounting plate:  Dual orbiter 2.0
  • Taichi Dual direct drive extruder mounting plate:  Dual Sherpa mini

March 2

  • Backplate update with optional Bowden setup with M10 pneumatic fitting for all rigid mounted hotend (Dragon - Dragonfly BMO - Rapido HF/UHF - RevoVoron)
  • Ender3Max - Added support for all rigid mounted hotend (Dragon - Dragonfly BMO - Rapido HF/UHF - RevoVoron)

March 11

  • Fixed Main Body for integrated BMG mount (Dragonfly BMS, E3dv6, dragon and dragonfly groove mount ) to allow longer heat sink,
  • Integrated BMG mount collar has tighter tolerances (Dragonfly BMS, E3dv6, dragon and dragonfly groove mount) So should not rotate, or a lot less at least.
  • Updated MainBody for all hotend model, to now use a cable cover backplate. - You can probably use a self tapping screw if you don't want to reprint the main body

---------

March 22

  • Added Slice CopperHead Support (untested) - for ender3/pro/v2/CR10/Ender5
  • Ender3max  - stock hotend support (backplate will work on the TitanOrbiter as well)
  • Ender5plus - initial support with modified bltouch mount (you will have to adjust the X end stock, and add a max X to avoid the bltouch from hitting the left side of the frame)
  • Added modded full size cable cover to hold BMG motor in forward facing configuration, not available on all hotend, only for the backplates that have an indent for the flush BMG mount (most groove mounted hotend, dragonfly BMS and stock)
  • Also added support for Original BMG Extruder, didn't realize what I had what only for clones (available for most groove mounted hotend, dragonfly BMS and stock) - will be in a BMG subfolder called "original"

March 23

  • Added Dragonfly HIC HF support (this one)

April 7

  • E3d v6 backplate  - small opening

Apr 11

  • micro left duct

  • Ender3Max
DD fix on V6 style hotend (Rapido, Dragon, etc...)

April 24:

  • Tweaked ducts: (edit: now part of the main ender3 zip file)

May 2nd:

  • Updated duct, air flow direction has been changed instead of blowing air below the nozzle they are aiming at the nozzle more, at least that's the goal ( Thanks to Alex Is Making Things for providing feedback and testing them out )
(edit now in the new organized zip, you can use it for any printer)

June 25th:

  • recompilation of models into one zip, was rushed so could be a few mistakes that I will double check and fix if needed once back home (laptop battery running out and no plugs converter for where I'm at now, and no time anyway), leaving the previous zip just in case.

    June 30th:
small fix in the new organized zip
    - ender3max, use old files from SaturnOrbiter_Beta_Ender3Max_2022-04-11.zip with limited hotend support
    - ender5 use the new zip and files from (deleted)
    - ender 6 use files from https://www.patreon.com/posts/64692358 with limited hotend support
  • (also going to delete some of the dedicated hotend post for ender3 as they are now in the new zip)

-----------------------

- The one update to rule them all -

SaturnOrbiter_ender3_pro_v2_ender5_CR10v1_2022-08-23.zip

Jul 5th/6th/20th - aug23:

  • fixed mosquito and nf crazy backplate and added sherpa support for them (8/23)
  • added a gap filler for the orbiter roof, and a note mentioning that it's optional, and can use the standard large roof instead.
  • Mainbody cable chimney (re)added for most if not all hotend, to ziptie the cables
  • Nf Crazy ( Mosquito clone ) added
  • Most backplate have been updated to also support 4.6mm heat inserts on the DD mount
  • added little notes files with some... notes
  • Ender5 CRtouch
  • Ender5 dragonfly BMS
  • Inluded ender5 files in the zip as they are close enough to ender3 and wil be marked clearly in filename or subfolder (removed the dedicated ender5 post)
Anything ender3 is ender5 compatible except for the probe mount
, so make sure to get the ender5 probe mount, BLtouch, CRtouch, 12mm probe
For some models you will find a dedicated MainBody and duct. (Rapido, stock, microswiss, dragonfly BMS)
  • Nov22: added stock hotted BMG

Ender 6 are way to different from ender3/5 so keep using files from https://www.patreon.com/posts/64692358
Ender3Max - I recommend you get a ender3 backplate for anything else not in the old Ender3Max_2022-04-11

This is likely the last Saturn update for this model (unless there are STLs that broke in this update), I milked my dying CAD file to a brim and it's now quasi dead. But the new shroud - ApolloLander - will now get full attention, as it was cast aside from multiple hotend request, linear rail setup and this file reorganization which was well needed.

You can send unsupported hotend request but they will go into the new Saturn remodel

If there is a bug/mistake do let me know I'll fix it

Just tested this out with my Ender 3 V2 Neo that has a Creality Spider hot end (as supplied with the Titan extruder kit) - in its current state it does not work. 1. The fan ducts are lower than the nozzle when using the spider hit end. 2. The CRTouch bracket is also too low and would touch the bed even when the prove is retracted. 3. The 5015 slots are slightly too small for standard sunluu 5015 fans. The fans need about an extra 1mm horizontal space and 1.5-2mm in length. 4. The hot end wires have a lot of pressure put on them on the right hand side of the main body where the feed into the cable shaft. I suspect this is related to the unit sitting too low on the hot end. I think the main thing would be to raise the height that the whole unit sits on the hot-end by about 8mm.

My first thought is that they raised the relative mounting point position compared to the original ender3v2 and if so try the ducts and crtouch mount from the stock creality hotend folder which are 6mm higher than the spider setup. I'll contact you over discord as it will be easier to figure this out and so that you can share some picture.

I'm intending on running a BMG direct drive extruder with a dragon on a rigid mount. Is there a reason there is no option for this? Or am I missing something.

I would highly recommend the ApolloLander instead which does support that combo. https://www.patreon.com/posts/apollolander-and-71090737
