This is the last paragraph from the mockingjay book and I feel like it perfectly explains Peeta and Katniss’s relationship. “Peeta and I grow back together. There are still moments when he clutches the back of a chair and hangs on until the flashbacks are over. I wake screaming from nightmares of mutts and lost children. But his arms are there to comfort me. And eventually his lips. On the night I feel that thing again, the hunger that overtook me on the beach, I know this would have happened anyway. That what I need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that. So after, when he whispers, "You love me. Real or not real?" I tell him, "Real."” The importance of Peeta giving her the bread to save her starving family cannot be overstated. Katniss realised the next day, when she saw a dandelion growing through the snow, that she would survive the winter by foraging and hunting in the woods. She associated the dandelion with hope and associates that hope with Peeta and the bread. It’s much clearer in the books but Peeta meant hope for the future for Katniss, even before they loved each other. It’s a beautiful metaphor in my opinion!

Guys, Katniss was never going to choose Gale. It's clear from movie 2 and onwards her heart was always with Peeta. She loved Gale in a we're buds type of way but never in a romantic way. Gale was right when he said Katniss will choose the one she can't live without, and that person is Peeta. Gale made more than just one mistake. He constantly made decisions that drifted him and Katniss' friendship apart. Him being indirectly responsible for Prim's death was just the final straw. Also, the blood that is on Gale's hands is much different than the blood on Katniss' hands. The blood on Katniss' hands is from the blood the Capital forced her to have or the blood the rebellion forced her to have by making her the symbol of the Rebellion. Like Peeta said, the reason all those people died like Finnick and Cinna is because they chose this. Katniss never chose it for them. Gale on the other hand was only looking to kill people unnecessarily

The book was honestly so amazing. Katniss is so strong after everything she went through, it makes sense she would not have room for Gale’s righteousness. She needed peace and optimism, something she never was able to think about before/during the rebellion.

I wanted to mention that in the books Katniss talks about never wanting children. Mostly because whatever children she did have could end up in The Games. At the end of the Mockingjay book Katniss speaks about how it took 15 years and convincing from Peeta to feel safe enough to have them. She speaks about how one day she will have to explain to her children how she was involved in the games. I really admired Katniss’ intelligence and self awareness. A favorite part of mine is when they do the vote about Coins Hunger Games. She looks at Haymitch and they have a knowing and understanding… he doesn’t know what she’s up to, but the look in her eyes is enough for him. They always silently communicated in a way no one else understood, and it kept them BOTH alive through it all. And I agree with you, Katniss does deserve peace. She gave everything, let everyone else do it LOL. That scene at the end where her and Peeta are sitting at the front door watching the rain in silence is amazing, they don’t have to worry anymore and just ponder in silence. I really love this series, it is so powerful. I am now 25 but read them at age 13 and it really changed my life. It helped me understand more serious subjects and idk, it gave me perspective of the way people can be (real people can be evil, manipulative, etc), and gave me inspiration to stand up for what’s right. To be a good and compassionate person. What a great series!!!

Fun fact: I think when she was throwing dishes the cat was cgi

Katniss lost all my respect for not killing Gayle. She said she would, she saw what they did to Peeta and she left him to that? She didn’t even try and kill the peacekeepers who were holding him. That was wrong.

I am so happy I joined this Patreon. I love this so much and happy to watch the entire video.

I’m so happy we had this journey together. This is my favorite book and movie series. I love how yall stood with Gale until the very end. I NEVER liked him, but I feel like a lot of men think Katiness was wishy washy when it came to her feelings. Peeta always put her first. The first games, he joined the bad team to protect her, the second movie, his heart stopped and the first thing he did was crack a joke so she would stop worrying. This movie, he couldn’t remember anything about himself but he remembered her favorite color and was heart broken when he stopped her from taking the nightlock pill after killing Coin. Go back and see his face. In the end, all of Katniss storyline was for nothing. She only wanted to save Prim and in the end we lost her anyways.

Something I never noticed before till now was that on the beginning of this movie, when they were on the way to district 2, they were strategizing a plan. Gayle was suggesting a trap where they bomb, then wait till people rush in to help, then bomb then again with a delayed reaction so they get more people. 👀👀👀 Sound familiar to what happened with the Capitol kids? 👀👀😔 That's why she asked him if he knew cause she heard him talk about that exact thing before

I think this one has a bit of a looser adaptation. If they did it truer to the book it would've needed to be rated R. They way the author describes Peeta`s torture among other things make it more brutal than the screen adaptation. Every thing steps up in this book.

Y’all needa start the maze runner series. Now. Ima just let y’all know if y’all looking for someone similar. That’s the one.

I'm a wedding coordinator and our rule of thumb for the ceremony kiss is 3-5 seconds. Enough time for photo and video to get the shots, but not too long to be awkward for your parents and grandparents. 😄

Bout to sit down and watch this one, y’all gonna react to HG: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes too? IMO, it’s just as good as the other Hunger Games movies.

certified gale hater. but regardless, one thing i always tell everyone is that katniss genuinely asked for none of this. she went in the games originally to protect her sister only for her sister to die in the end. also keep in mind katniss was a child. 16, 17/18 throughout the entire story.
