Good morning! Here is our uncut reaction to the 2nd episode of Percy Jackson with Brandon. I know we are not too deep into the series just yet but I am liking what I am seeing so far!

Hate to be that guy but Grover in the movie is the most 180 degree portrayal. Movie Grover was HIM tho. Series Grover is much more accurate and can be annoying at times. The movie was inaccurate, but it's a good movie if you haven't read the books. It also has the benefit of having an older cast, which is something that I think would've helped the series even if it would be inaccurate. I expect the series to be like Harry Potter where the cast grows per season. I would recommend watching the first movie even if it's inaccurate. I wouldn't recommend the 2nd movie, but if you watch the first one, might as well watch the 2nd.

One thing to keep in mind while doing the series, is do not refer to the movies as a guide. Especially the 1st one because they changed the entire book. Like 1. Grover in the movie is completely wrong, its laughable about how wrong movie grover is. Grover is 24, but mentally and physically 12. Luke and Clarrise are about 16 or 17 years old. So are the actors playing them are 18 and 19. Clarisse is also the daugther of ares, so her temper comes from him. Like the beads around their necks are how long they have been at the camp.

The underworld isn't hell (it consists of different parts(or levels) one of which is Elysium, which is technically a paradise where most of the heroes go after their death). Otherwise when ppl die they all go to the underworld. They didn't want to tell Percy the truth about his mom bc they thought it would distract Percy from his quest and the main goal of the quest. Also yes, I feel like Annabeth in her strategy of the capture the flag kinda did both. She used Percy as a bait to distract Clarisse bc she knew Clarisse would want to take her revenge and she also did test Percy as well. She was also the first one who thought of Poseidon being his father, which she tried to test as well by pushing him into the water. These all just shows how strategic and smart she is. You can also somewhat understand Clarisse. Luke mentioned about glory(kleos). All these kids r being thrown here to train and become better warriors not only for their own safety but also in some way to impress their godly parents, trying to get their attention and then there's this kid shows up who kills a minotaur on his first try while some of these kids have been there for years training(not excusing her actions tho). Movie Grover was a complete different character and, honestly, he didn't do much as a character throughout the whole movie except being some type of a comedic relief. The movie can be somewhat entertaining for the ppl who haven't read the books I guess but it doesn't change the fact that it's flat and bland, when it comes to the plot and characters. You could say it was a generic hollywood movie which was made just for fun mostly. Not only they took some major parts of the first book and made it more flat, they also changed some origin greek myth aspects to fit into their narrative. If we even put the books aside the movie itself had plot holes and characters who lacked personality. I mean u can still watch it ofc if ur curious but u can't actually compare the movies to the show. Starting from ep3 there's hardly anything similar in its plot points even if some major things have been kinda the same in ep1/2, the details and reasonings behind all of it is different.

Peculiar

when does ep 3 come out?
