I agree the pacing is my only real problem so far, but I think they will slow down. As for the Gabe stuff I’m holding off on judging if they toned him down until the end. In the movie they take one of his worst moments, that happens at the end of the 1st book, and put it at the beginning, so maybe they are just easing us in and then hitting us with “no he’s a total bastard “

I mean it really isn’t that much of a problem for me yeah they cut some stuff, but I feel like people forget how much happens in those first 10 chapters, hell even the first five. A lot of the book is a lot of explanations, or descriptions but a lot happens in those first chapters very quickly

One big thing I will agree with Nerdy on, is that Gabe is way to likable in this rendition. I'm a book reader, and Gabe is supposed to be the Vernon/Petunia of the series. Super unlikable, offensive, problematic. This Gabe was unlikable, but his dynamic with Sally was less toxic than I wanted it to be.
