Its cool that you like this season start. Regarding motivations i dont get your obsession with this subject. Its a mystery show. Its supposed to be hidden. Ive really never seen anyone so hung up on the idea that you cant enjoy the story if you cant relate to all the peoples motivations. But hey, atleast you are enjoying this part. I look forward to seeing your faces at the end of the season :)

Idk if it’s a better translation but in the French subs, "kirisaki Kenny" was translated as "Kenny l’égorgeur" which means something like "Kenny the throat slitter". There is therefore less of an allusion to Jack the Ripper ("Jack l’éventreur" in French).

There's a reason why people meme (but not really since it is very true) that attack on titan is a mecha show like Gundam. People may come for the robots (the titans since the titan shifters are piloting the titans like robots) but the main draw of the series is always the political tensions, character arcs, and factional conflicts.
