Moons

I know it's frustrating now but this episode is actually VERY informative despite not seeming so. I guess this one is more enjoyable on rewatch.

Moons

Last comment if you happen to read them : when Eren said "what’s that ? A monkey ?", The more accurate translation would be "what is a monkey?" Or "what is this 'monkey' they are talking about?". Hinting that Eren may not be familiar with what exactly a Monkey is. He may have never even heard that word before.

I had a lot of the same complaints on my first watch, watching week to week made the pacing seem even worse and felt like a cheap play for time. Having reached the end I can confidently say that each of the steps this story takes are deliberately and painstakingly thought out. All of your questions will be answered.

bear with it the pay off is worth it

Just FYI the reason Erwin said this episode they only had until nightfall to get to Eren is because he's working off the theory that Hange came up with last episode (which is correct), that Reiner and Bert are resting in this big forest until nightfall, at which point they will escape with Eren and Ymir. If the Scouts don't make it to the forest before nightfall, it will be much harder to catch Reiner and co. in Titan territory, while they're on the run.

Sometimes an episode can be a tense conversation like this. Through that whole thing we get to see a push and pull between these two sides finally having a chance to confront each other without turning into titans and trying to kill one another. And Ymir is an interesting third party who could ultimately sway the outcome one way or another depending on how the conversation goes. I don't think it's fair to say that "nothing happened". As others have noted, this whole episode is just giving you more pieces to the puzzle, even if you don't realize it yet. This is essentially a two-parter with the next episode, but together these episodes are hugely important for the immediate plot, as well as the overarching mystery. And as for them "talking around the mystery", I get the frustration, but as you suggested, they don't want to reveal everything to Eren yet until they are sure that they have successfully completed their "mission". It also would be weird for them to just start exposition dumping out of nowhere when they don't need to.

part of the reveal is that Reiner and Bertholdt don't want to reveal anything.

Zyrus

This dialogue is very deliberately crafted.

I felt the same as you guys with this episode iirc. It was a bit of a nothingburger and kind of frustrating to watch. I think it does get somewhat better with the reveals but yeah it was particularly painful with this episode.

I usually don't comment a lot but I can't help to ask "why do you hate this show so much and yet keep watching it?"

Xaniss

They weren't talking weird to hide info from you, they were trying to hide it from Eren.
