I think that the issue with the plot and repeated scenes after Kronika's death is attributed to the fact that MK 11: aftermath is an expansion for the game that came a month after the main game. I think that if you knew that the continuation afterwards was already DLC/an expansion the repeated scenes and some of the drawn out plot would have seemed less unnecessary. Also, I think that fire god Liu Kang was officially in a separate timeline because he was at the beginning of time. so the timeline that he was in, didn't necessarily restart. if it somehow was, he probably purposely caused the timeline to branch when Fujin and the others were discovered at the coliseum which may have been why he sent them there instead of somewhere more convenient besides his lack of skill. he doesn't fully explain his process but it seems like everything was intentional to me. There is also the fact that he is a god and exists outside the rules of time idea which would mean that as long as he wasn't killed or trapped somewhere that would affect him, he would still remain if we say it was the same timeline, just in the past. This was a great reaction and I personally would love to see the other endings if there is interest and enough time in the schedule!
