Hey Jaby, So IIT is really really tough and people sacrifice a lot of things for it. The story depicts that sacrifice. Its not that he doesn't have the balls to tell her that he likes her, he just doesn't come to terms to tell her so that his struggle to getting into IIT doesn't get affected. You can make this out from their last conversation where she says, "All the best for IIT" and he replies "For IIT". For 11th and 12th students IIT is the most important thing and they give up everything for it. This episode shows that. He gives up his friends, Jeetu bhaiyya, his institute and also the girl he likes for IIT. And this is pretty much what all students do.

Contrary to your opinions though, I was definitely frustrated that he didn't say it to the girl and vice versa but I felt like he did contemplate in his head because if he said that he likes her and she clearly likes him too, he will not come to terms with leaving Prodigy to go to Maheshwari which was his main goal. That's the color as in Maheshwari will now push you to your actual goal that is IIT. That's what you've come here to do. Which was overall theme of the episode.

Hey Jaby, Without Confusing you anymore I will list down certain nuances in the show below in bullet points for simpler understanding: 1) IIT is one of the toughest Exam to crack in the world and not just in India it is famous for that the world over, and it requires unwavering dedication to crack that exam. A relationship is not conducive to achieving that goal at this point in time. Both Vaibhav and Varthika and all Indian audiences know this fact and hence we were able to understand that it wasn't that he chickened out but his priorities in spite of what his love life wanted had to be different. 2) The Transition from Black and White to Color was a subtle way of showing that he has finally started to blend in the colour of Kota ( Adjust to the trial and tribulations of IIT Preparation). 3) The Pace of the show can be considered slow for American Audiences but we Indians love to Ponder the Subtlety of Stillness and Silence and have for long understood that slowness has its own beauty that can be appreciated with a small change in perspective .

It is just that hard to crack IIT. You have to give it everything - friendships, romances, health (like sitting for 8 hours studying). The probability is so so low. It has about 5000 seats, BUT not all seats are equal. To get into the "better" things of IIT also (say get Computer Science at IIT Bombay), you need to be in the top 200. So, you need to be literally among the top 200 in 1.3 million aspirants. That is the hurdle they're trying to overcome here. Personal experience, (not bragging), my rank was 3066. And it was "not good enough" to get a meaningful course at IIT.

As a long time subscriber i just wish you broaden your perspective about things. Everything in your discussion be it Kota Factory(A show about Education, City, Friendship etc) or "Yeh Meri Family" (A show about middle class Indian family in the 90s) ends up being about relationships and love, gf and bf. There is more to life than that. You spend a huge portion of your time discussing just a small part of a story about a girl and boy. I subscribed your channel and join patreon so that i can understand how things look to people from the outside, who have a different education system, different cultural views about education, health, how you approach a college etc I just felt that a review about something should be well balanced. But thats just my opinion.

well said @sanket naik ... have appreciated Jaby and team's reviews in the past but this was too 1-dimensional... the review kept harping on love and couples, instead of focussing on the bigger picture from the series; love for friends, Kota, education, etc., bonding of Vaibhav-Meena, Vaibhav-Jeetu (the mentee-mentor bond), and Uday's angst , all of which they almost trivialised... disappointing to see how romance and finding your partner seems the only focus of the review (maybe similar to life in US colleges?) while missing the purity of friendships and relationships..

Hi Saru! The series has been re-uploaded to vimeo and if you click the WEBSERIES tab on our page and scroll down until you find the latest post on Kota Factory, you should be able to find links to all episodes there. Hope this helps!
