There are a few benefits to watching the VR video files locally as opposed to on Youtube. The biggest reason is that Youtube currently caps the resolution at 4k, this is HALF the resolution of my newest 8k videos.

Since I offer access to file downloads on all my videos at certain tiers on Patreon, I’ve gotten a few questions on how to watch my VR180 mp4 video files in their headsets. There are many ways to achieve this but these are my go-to methods -- Try them out on this 8k sample video I have attached to this post!

Part 1: Download the file to your headset

Option 1: Download the video file from my Patreon Page in the Oculus browser

1. Open the Oculus Browser

2. On the Oculus browser, navigate to my Patreon page( https://www.patreon.com/vrgirlasmr ) and click on a download link. It should bring you to a download page on Google Drive

3. Currently there is lag between when you select download (or “Download Anyway”) and when it starts downloading. Do not click it multiple times unless you want multiple copies of the file on your headset

4. Go to your Oculus TV app (should be pre-downloaded on your headset) and click the “Your Media” button in the toolbar. Scroll down to the “On Your Device” section. You should see the video there!

Option 2: You need an Oculus Link Cable (or cheaper alternative) for this option. You can download the files onto your headset

(I only recommend this option if you hate typing/navigating in VR. Otherwise, I suggest option 1 as it is less of a hassle and you don't have to deal with plugging your headset into your computer)

1. Connect your Quest 2 to your computer with the Oculus Link Cable (or cheaper alternative)

2. Put on your headset and you should see an alert pop up asking for files permissions. Select “Allow”.

3. Go back to you computer and you should see your Quest 2 and navigate to your Quest 2 files (you will need to download Android File Transfer on Mac)

4. Drag and drop your VR video files into Quest 2’s DCIM folder

Part 2: Watch the VR180 video file downloaded to your Oculus Quest 2

Option 1: Oculus TV

1. Open your OculusTV app (should be pre-downloaded on your headset)

2. Click the “Your Media” button in the toolbar

3. Scroll down to the “On Your Device” section

4. Click on your local video. It should open up that video in a VR player. Make sure to select the 180 3D option!

Option 2: DeoVR

1. Download the DeoVR Quest app from the Oculus Store (it’s free!)

2. Open the app and navigate to your Local Files by selecting the folder icon in the tool bar

3. Find your local videos in the DCIM folder. It should open up that video in a VR player

This was one of my favorite videos of all time. Something about the quirkiness of it all was just really relaxing. And I'm definitely a fan of soft spoken content. Hope we can get some more like this!😊
