Thank you again for covering this series. Much like you, I found it on Newgrounds, I think shortly before Step 2 was released. It was firmly in the #1 slot at a time when stick figure action choreography, ultra violence, and edgy humor were the site's MO. It was refreshing, and different, and just... fucking amazing. It tapped into the emotional side of myself that I'd been trying to deny at the time. Since discovering this series I can't imagine how many views I must have racked up combined. I love that they took the time to extend this story beyond "happily ever after" and show that one victory doesn't win the war. How from Step 2 on, we only see the brothers being irrational, that we didn't know their perspective, what they'd been through. A bit of that whole "Be kind to others because you don't know the wars they're fighting" concept. Another testament to how amazing a medium animation is. Not one spoken word, the songs are in a language I don't understand, but I get the story perfectly. And it makes me feel. More than most any live-action series or movie ever has. Side note:  The only other piece of animation I still go back to from that era of Newgrounds is "Bitey of Brackenwood" by chulaid. This series has always held a special place in my heart. And I'm so glad you covered it. I really love the mention that if someday they were to have a mixed-species child of their own, Il-ho is afraid that the child will be bullied like he did. But then Doki reassures him by saying that they will have many kids, so their children will have eachother and will even loved by other pure children. Showing how optimistic and confident she is about her future family's life together. I love how their short cameo is meant to help Il-ho out with his fear of the future for inter-species lovers. It's such a great rep for real inter racial relationships.
