Hi everyone,

After incredible years of development and growth, I am happy to announce that the MineFortress mod finally goes open source! This decision I see as the natural next step for our project. When a large number of people are involved in the product by testing and suggesting different things, it would be best to release the source code.

After 3 years of constant development (it will be even more if we count on the first private prototypes) I can feel that I am starting to burn out. The amount of bugs and feature requests is growing every day and now the backlog looks endless. The potential of the mod is huge and I don't want to give up the project taking into consideration all community support that I have received over the years. So, to keep up with the pace and to make the project the first non-beta release, I need your help. Also for a lot of people, it is hard to support the project financially, but they still want to contribute. Now you can do it by contributing to the codebase!

I decided to release the project under a very permissive MIT license. This means that you can use the code in any way you want, including creating your own mods based on MineFortress. However, I would be very happy if you could contribute to the project by creating pull requests, reporting bugs, or suggesting new features.

So go ahead and check out the repository: https://github.com/remmintan/minefortress

Don't forget to hit the star button to show your support!

I will be happy to see your contributions in any form, from issues to pull requests.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them, in the dedicated #dev channel.

Like with any other change, we are starting slowly. Right now there is no code of conduct or contribution guide. I will try to create them or you can help me with that by creating pull requests :)

Hope you will enjoy developing the mod as much as I do! If you can't code, you can still support the project by donating on Patreon or by spreading the word about the mod.
