Hey everyone,

First off, I want to apologize for the radio silence over the past couple months and the delay in releasing beta version 1.12.0. I've been heads down working hard on the next evolution of MineFortress mod and I'm excited to finally share some updates with you all!

As the mod has grown, we've accumulated some gameplay mechanics and approaches that have started to feel a bit cumbersome and complicated, especially around blueprints, resource production, and inventory management. I've been pouring through your suggestions and bug reports to identify ways to streamline things and provide a more intuitive, immersive gameplay experience.

The goal is to simplify the experience while still providing depth. A key focus is revamping the blueprint system. Instead of separate crafting tables and beds, all resource production and pawn hiring will be consolidated into the buildings themselves. Blueprints will have a consistent GUI and be upgradable.

We're also moving away from the virtual resource system that was prone to bugs. The mod will now leverage existing Minecraft chests and blocks for more reliable resource storage and management.

Other highlights captured in our new roadmap include:

  • Intuitive pawn selection and task assignment
  • Pawns that defend themselves when attacked
  • Professions that can be hired and assigned within buildings

I'm already making good progress down this path. The latest commits introduce a much improved way to easily select pawns with the mouse pointer. Only selected pawns will be assigned tasks, streamlining that workflow. Build mode received a new toggle to switch between pawn selection and building.

There's still work to be done to get to the 1.12.0 beta, but I'm energized by this direction and roadmap. I believe these enhancements will lead to more strategic, streamlined gameplay and open up new possibilities by leveraging core Minecraft mechanics.

As always, I welcome your feedback! Let me know what you think about the roadmap and if there are any other pain points or ideas I should consider. I'm pushing hard to get 1.12.0 out to you in the next couple weeks and appreciate your patience. Your support and input mean the world to me.

More frequent updates to come as we close in on this next beta milestone and progress down this exciting path. Thanks for being on this journey with me to create an awesome RTS experience in Minecraft!

Cheers, Remmintan
