The fact that the US did not upgrade the SM-1 missile after 1987 is cited as the direct reason for starting the European ASTER surface to air missile program. If you look at the core nations France and Italy they both had numerous SM-1 ships that was left using an unsupported missile as they saw it. The counties had also felt that using US systems they where bound to keep up with the US in upgrades of the systems like the HAWK surface to air missile in a way that might not match their defence needs. Decommissioning 7 Ticonderoga's in one year, is gonna leave the Navy lean on escorts. We will be adding at most 4 Arleigh Burkes. Funny side note, I took care of Admiral Arleigh A. Burke Park, when I worked for the city of Boulder Parks and Recreation Dept.

Great brief. Very nice. Your opinion: do you think American ships would do better to carry heavyweight torpedos like the mk48 rather than light weight torps? The Russians use heavyweight quite often for their destroyers and cruisers

Hi, I was friends with a DC man on the Hue City when it caught fire. It's been a while since I've spoken to him about it but I remember that those rags were on an exhaust pipe of some sort. He at first thought it was caused by a specific sailor who kept sneaking off to smoke.

How well does an older Tico stand up vs a new DDG-51 as the center of the AAW component of a battle group? Is the Cruiser SPY-1 still a worthwhile air and missile defense system, or is the SPY-6 significantly superior? Any capability vs hypersonics and incoming Antiship Ballistic Missiles?
