Just like Killer Mike of Run The Jewels says, The Carter 2 is Wayne's true classic. Carter 1 is dope, and Carter 3 is cool, but was a big disappointment to me because all the best songs leaked and weren't included on the album. Wayne went on a crazy feature and mixtape run, so the hype for Carter 3 was out of this world, but OG Wayne fans will tell you The Carter 2 is better.

I will say, his mixtapes (especially "The Draught" series) and his guest appearances are way better than any of his "Carter" albums, imo.

The reason most said to skip this is because lil Wayne was on top of the world during the no ceiling mixtape going into carter 3 - carter 4. He was the #1 pound for pound for a good 4-5 years. So a lot of his previous work before that era gets overlooked.
