Even though my body hurts in just about every way you can imagine, a single realisation brings me back to the here and now. I didn’t get the boss defeat message.

My arms are broken but I still pull myself up. Below me, the minotaur lies broken and dying, but still alive. Although faint, it is still breathing, and although muted, I can still clearly hear its heart beating.

And you know what? This is good for me.

You see, I realised something with the poet king. If I beat the floor, I can’t loot the boss corpses. Furthermore, since I’m in crippling debt, I can’t get the normal floor rewards anyways, so even if I do get one or two of the boss’ drops in there, I still lose it. What a conundrum! A dilemma, one might even say.

But here, staring at this bull’s magnificent horns, I can tell exactly what the solution is.

I just need to loot the boss before I defeat them. Effectively putting the horse before the cart. Isn’t that just clever?

Almost smiling to myself, I begin my very bountiful harvest. I don’t really care too much for its organs since they’ll just get sold anyways, so really, it’s the pelt that I care for. Sure, it isn’t exactly of the finest quality or anything like that, but I need to have it in order to prove to Moleman that I really did defeat this supposedly invulnerable being. Oh, and I also want the horns. And the tail. And the tongue. That last one is mostly as a snack, but the tail is important. I need to check if it can still make the fire. I need to know..

And after only a few hours of disassembling, working as slowly as possible in order to keep the minotaur alive for as long as possible, it’s finally done. I have my new favourite skin. It is so big. I cannot overstate how big this hide is, I mean really, I could use this thing as a tent, or as a blanket, or as an entire cape-cloak combo! I am so happy.
