Ok, This Is A Big One! :D (Patreon)

HELLO EVERYONE!!!! TODAY IM HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT I'M FINALLY STARTING WORK ON THE HALO AMOUR!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!! This is the big one!!!

So you might be wondering why has it taken so long to get to the stage where I can start to build a full set of armour? it really has come down to a few major issues, one is my method of designing models being COMPLETELY incompatible with a model that needs to be scaled, most of the time I'm working on components with tolerances within 10ths of a millimetre and being that precise, changing the model's scale by even 1% can mean parts no longer fit together properly, this has been a massive issue but I believe I have found a solution to that! wooohooo!!! 1 down, a few more to go!

Next was the human scale! I'm not tall but Spartans are, so adding a bit of height would be a good idea. I have been thinking of ways of adding height to us, and hiding that in the armour and I have a few experiments that I am ready to try :D 2 down!

Next is the under armour! This one I'm still stuck on, the problem is the under amour is basically a suit with 3D flexible panels... flexible! Flexible and 3d printing don’t go together very well hahaha. I know there are flexible 3d printing materials out there but I have no experience with using them so I have no clue if they can stand up to the wear and tear of a moving suit plus encasing yourself completely in none breathable plastic does not sound very comfortable hahaha That leaves us to move on to other forms of cosplay constructing awesomeness outside of 3D printing :D  More on this in a bit!

And the last big issue is the visor! to get a clear visor with all the intricate shapes needed, I need to look at vacuum forming :D I have grabbed a super cheap one and will be doing some experiments :D so far I don't think this will be 100% a requirement as you can just place a none vacuum-formed reflective sheet in the helm without all the visor detail and it will still look awesome! So this is sort of sorted!

AND ALL OF THIS IS BEFORE I HAVE EVEN PICKED THE ARMOUR!!! speaking of which...
I'm going for halo infinite's MK5 B!!!! this has been almost as hard to figure out as all the other issues hahaha. First I looked at master chiefs armour but there are a ton out there and his armour really has been done before. Then I had a look at infinite's MK 7 and again there are super good sets out there (if you haven't, check out the 405th cosplay community for that awesomeness!!)

And that left the MK5 B and the more specialised armour sets from infinite. Although I like the specialised sets, I want to build a more generic option to give you guys the opportunity to make it your own! :D

With all that! I can finally get to the good stuff!!!! THE FEATURES!

FULL INTERNALS!!!!!

Like with my other models I wanted to add some extra stuff to it and see if I could add some quality of life features to the model :D

First up is the stand for the armour. 99% of the time the armour is not gonna be used for cosplay and chucking it in a closet after hundreds of hours spent building it would feel a bit like a waste :D So I’m gonna build a display stand for the armour! Plus a stand is a good way to hold the armour while building it :D I'll have a post later with more detail on this one :D

Next is the internal frame!!! If you guys have seen the Spartan laser, that’s sort of what I’m going for with this model!

On the electronics side, I’m gonna keep it a secret for now :D I have a ton of ideas but won't know what is possible till I start work on the model and don't want to say I'm gonna do something that later turns out to not be possible :D


And with all that!?!?! it's finally time to get started on this epicness!! normally I would give you an idea of how long I would expect this type of project to take but with how much time I have spent on the spartan laser, I have no idea hahaha I do know that time is not a limit on this one as I'll be focusing on max detail. oh and ill be making this model at the same time as the normal speed models and models you guys vote for :D This one is going to be huge!

Also, I'm gonna need your guy's help on this one! A lot of you guys have more experience with building suits than I do so I'll need your help on sections of this project :D I'll have a future posts on this as well as I'll be setting specific channels in the discord for it :D
