JUST IN TIME FOR XXXMAS, a new LEWD anime statue arrived on my doorstep like a month early  soooooo i figured why not unbox it for you guyssssss. Obviously there is plastic DICK (and body pillow dick and one real dick that is not mine used for example purposes) involved so be careful where you watch LMAO.

Additional Notes:

  • because unboxing and being coherent at the same time is impossible for me: the way i discuss resin statues vs pvc figures makes it sound like resin is ONLY used for unlicensed figures but this is just not true, there are in fact licensed resin statues (and theyre wildly expensive like $1000 USD before shipping expensive).
  • I hint at my stance on unlicensed statues but actually cut out my talking about that since i got exhausted unboxing and couldnt keep a linear train of thought ROFL but TLDR i dont think its overall that serious, buy if you buy, dont if you dont and hypocrisy exists on both sides of the argument when an argument doesnt need to exist but thats the internet for ya. My extended stances are below.

The Real Fuckin Long Version Of My Stance On Unlicensed Resin Statues:

  • i think most people who argue AGAINST unlicensed statues are often times hypocritical in the argument of "theyre stealing from the IP owner" in part because for-profit fanart and doujinshi exist and these same people often dont take issue with that but also because while these statues are wildly expensive that doesnt mean the teams of people making them are making an exact profit based off the listing price.
  • The resin itself, the sculpting digitally, the printing, the painting, buying all the packing materials and etc is going into that total cost so while theyre for sure making a profit (which is then split by however many people are involved in the operation), to act like its so much more money to be made than most established digital artists with a social media following or pixiv/deviantart/furaffinity/etc who draw pinups, fancomics and doujins of anime characters they dont own the rights to and sell them at conventions and on patreon, gumroad, fanbox, fantia, subscribestar as well as commissions on social media is just selective ignorance. Also Garage Kits exist and are never sold for free but people often dont ever take issue with those. Also-Also im a regular purchaser of fanart and fan animations of unlicensed IP whether thru patreon, fanbox or gumroad purchases so this is coming from the standpoint of someone who thinks these artists should be paid for their work if they offer you a chance to but also lets be transparent: its not their characters, theyre in a legal sense violating copyright the same as unlicensed resin statues.
  • On the other side of the argument, i think the people who sing the praises of resin statues are often times delusional in their talking points about quality and price and sometimes have some weird, juvenile personal vendetta against licensed merchandise or paying creatives and the companies associated with them in general often from a place of entitlement.
  • While the prices of licensed figures across the board have rapidly increased in varying degrees recently, by and large resin statues are STILL for the most part more expensive than most licensed figures. In my talking about scales, a 1/8 scale figure is often times (but recently not always) still cheaper than most 1/6 scale resin statues which would make sense since theyre overall smaller and while a lot of 1/6 scale resin statues are in fact cheaper than your average FREEING 1/4 scale bunny figure nowadays - the statue is still a smaller SCALE so it in part makes sense it would be cheaper regardless of how elaborate it may be in comparison.
  • While these resin statues may have a cheaper listing price (im talking full payment price not the usually ~$150 deposit which people often dont realize is a deposit and not the full price but i digress), resin is a notably heavier material and most shipping is determined by weight so while that 1/6 scale dungeon themed gojo that comes with a chair and a coat rack on a wide stone base with his name carved into it and 6 extra dicks may be cheaper in listing price than a 1/7 scale gojo by shibuya scramble, ultimately the shipping price is often going to hike that overall cost up due to weight and dimensions of the box. Also in regards to the 1/6 scale - who the hell has space to be collecting huge statues like that on the reg? Homeowners, thats who - couldnt be me im a millennial.
  • Quality control is also an issue across unlicensed resin statues in that aside from the sculpt youre shown in promotional photos being potentially not great looking to begin with (imo), often times these shits come out looking a little to a lotta bit different than the promotional images  especially if its by a non established studio. Essentially youre blowing hundreds of dollars on a gamble that you cant send back or request fixes for. On two separate occasions ive had a figure come in that was made by good smile company that had defects (one scale, one nendoroid) and both times ive been able to have a replacement part sent to me free of charge. Resin statues for the most part wont do that, you get what you get and sometimes what youll get is a statue broken in transit which to be fair can happen with pvc figures but depending on the licensed manufacturer you can get replacements yet with resin theres very little to no hope for that.
  • The final talking point ima DeBuNk with FaCtS aNd LoGiC LMAO is the general argument of "you get figures of characters you otherwise wouldnt in resin statues and in artistic ways the licensed figures dont do". This talking point has popped up more with the Rise of the RevoLewdTion with men attracted people pointing to the lack of licensed cast off male figures. As i said already, 4/5ths of the time these statues across the board dont look GREAT when it comes to the character sculpts which is clearly why so many overcompensate with excess effect parts, elaborate bases, assorted furniture and 900 extra dicks. When it comes to the naked ones, as i said in the video, a lot have been made of characters i personally love but most of them have not looked good at all despite being of characters i spiritually bend over for every time i see them on my computer screen. If youre that desperate to have a naked statue of a character you like regardless of how it looks go for it but to act like the majority of these are somehow worth the price and contain consistent high quality is something i strongly disagree with. Is the desire for a Harumi Takeda figure to be in your collection AT ALL more important than how said figure looks? Couldnt be me, i have standards.
  • As i said, ive been keeping track of EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of the naked male resin statues since Zoro was announced (my current count is: 305 released, 46 announced, 4 cancelled) and in TOTAL ive found FOUR that were worth purchasing to me - ONE of which was bought for the MOMENT it represented so really ive bought 3 that i liked liked and of those 3, TWO are from a studio with established quality since they first appeared (the last one is for sure a gamble, gotta take risks sometimes, see yall in June). PVC Figures by and large cost less and are smaller so collecting more is more feasible, they have better quality control (albeit not always) and theres not only clear promotional photos for every figure thats released so you know what youre getting (most resin statue images are low quality, highly photoshopped and some even digitally generated) but theres enough people buying them that if you wanna buy it later and skip preordering theres guaranteed to be countless videos on youtube and dozens of photos across social media and myfigurecollection to use for research before you make a later decision.
  • Lastly, to act like purchasing more of these statues and less licensed figures will somehow incentivize license holding manufacturers to make more naked male characters makes no sense particularly when you consider the target audience of the IP most of these are made from. Kotobukiya is never going to make a cast off figure of geto no matter how much money resin geto dick makes because hes a character from a manga thats target audience is adolescent boys. Yes b-style bunny figures exist of characters from shonen manga but no matter how risque you may think the lucy heartfilia bunny figure is shes still clothed - however i am fully behind the support for male bunny figures if we accept the reality theyd be scantily clad and not full on naked which is what most female bunnies are anyway - FREEING get on it i want an Ayanokoji Kiyotaka bunny STAT.
  • I will say one argument on the "against" side of things that does resonate with me personally but i dont judge or care if it doesnt for others is the often recurring act of some of these resin sculptors making their design based off of established fanart without the artists permission. For the record, plenty of artists HAVE either been commissioned to make the concept for some statues (itto, beitemian, mazjojo) but this is not always the case (PKM and Pink Bear studios seem to be regular offenders from what ive seen). Logistically i do objectively view this as someone making something without someones permission by way of that something being something that was made without the original artists permission so really a third party is the one being "wronged" but PERSONALLY i wouldnt buy a statue if i knew it was based off of an independent artist's artwork. it just doesnt appeal to me and makes the statue feel less creative so i view it as more boring whereas an originally sculpted statue feels more like fanart to me and so im more incentivized to want to pay for it since its genuinely more unique and not just someone with no creativity tryna get in on the action. Like i think all these edgy samurai crossover, corny cyberpunk themed, cringy streetwear figures look dumb as fuck but at least (in theory) someone came up with that concept on their own LMAO.
  • Overall if you like resin statues, cool, if you dont, cool, I dont have a strong financial investment in them and i wouldnt argue with anyone over their stance cause i dont think its that serious. I mostly check whats new just for fun and have just happened to find a few i wanted plus i do it to catalogue the RevoLewdTion because regardless of how you feel about unlicensed resin statues it is something significant for a market that historically has only catered to battle shonen dudebro interests to suddenly open its legs up to sculpted dick - its truly a victory. Obviously I own a shisui uchiha statue which fits under the "characters who wouldnt get a figure" category (at least until recently, now he has a few prize figures coming out thanks to that naruto 100 character poll, i love him but thats ridiculous hes a plot device at best - albeit a HOT plot device) but i didnt buy him cause i NEEDED a shisui figure and wouldnt get him otherwise - i bought him cause i liked how the statue looked, i liked the character and the studio who made him had a history of good quality which is very much my purchasing intent across the board whether its licensed, fanmade or other official/unoffical merchandise. Buy what you wanna buy, dont what you dont, ultimately these are two separate markets that dont actually overlap or pay attention to each other and when they do it mostly results in official resin ip owners issuing takedowns on distributor sites lmao favorgk just got almost shut down by tsume art just earlier this year it was DRAMATIC.
  • Okay im done, i hate that i sound like such a CENTRIST on this but it is what it is LMAO

I feel like one of those spiky things should go in his bum and attach to the hose. But like 🤷🏽‍♀️

THATS WHAT I THOUGHT but it turns out they attach to the base as minor details and theyre way too small to attack to that peg. Ive contacted FNC and hopefully i can learn the TRUTH but for now im just storing the cord cause its just a dangling piece of whatever lmao
